Job Summary
The PP Matrix Technician provides logistical, raw material support services to produce high quality Avient Protective Materials products while maintaining excellent safety, human relations, and environmental standards. The PP Matrix technician will operate within the Life Protection Operational business unit and will be responsible for all aspect of the matrix utilization process; from generation/make up to end user application. They will be accountable for setting up, operating, adjusting, and maintaining all equipment required to produce/transport our matrix product in accordance with all standard operating procedures and instructions. The person in this role will also ensure all raw materials are available for point of use for all production lines. The technician will interact with all local staff and assist in the training, guidance, and leadership of other team members.
The PP Matrix Technician will be utilized in the daily operational structure of the Life Protection business unit. The main goal of the technician will be to maintain all matrix supplies from the generation of the raw material until the product is utilized in the production process. This includes batch makeup, re-processing as required, transport, etc. This intrinsic part of the process is critical to maintaining high quality Avient Protective Materials product for our customers and improving overall production efficiencies. The selected candidate may be required to work some overtime as business needs require. They will be held to a high standard due to the importance of their duties to the overall success of the process. This position will work on a rotational day shift schedule.

Ensures Company guidelines related to company policies relating to quality, safety, housekeeping and cost effectiveness are met. Suggests facilities, procedural and process improvements as related to job to maintain and improve production quality, equipment functionality, safety, cost and efficiency. Contributes to the effort during implementation of selected improvements. Monitors and analyzes daily production to ensure all raw materials are available at point of use in a timely manner. Recognizes potential production problems, investigates and recommends solutions to correct them. Reports variances as required. Set-up, operate, and maintain the equipment required for the matrix preparation process which includes but is not limited to camlock valves, matrix hoses, Wilden pumps, and the water/air utility systems in the sieve area in accordance with standard operating procedures. Understanding of the fundamentals of lean manufacturing and Kanban systems in relation to work flow of parts/pieces is required as applicable. Maintains accurate records of the raw material and the produced products in the appropriate computer system. Enters data for critical parameters/components of the raw material, intermediate/finished products, etc. Ability to sample, test, and analyze properties of matrix to determine specification compliance. Performs in process as well as off line checks as required to ensure high quality standards are sustained. Utilizes good judgment to make decisions, in cooperation with supervisor, based on sample/test results. Transport, measure, and maintain inventory of components/supplies as needed at point of use including but not limited to; raw materials, intermediate/finished products, tools, cleaning supplies, etc. Technician must possess the ability to operate forklifts (stand-up and sit-down) as required or directed. Ability to use MES/SAP to maintain traceability for raw materials as they are supplied to the designated production line. Maintains annual training requirements on hazardous material/waste transport, storage, containment as related to job function according to company guidelines. Responsible for completing intermediate preventative maintenance activities as assigned by the maintenance department; including but not limit to pump repair, hose repair, etc. Provide support as requested by PP supervision to meet all manufacturing goals. Perform other duties as assigned.
Projects or Special Assignments
Operational Excellence Roles SAP Roles (as required)This position involves work with (supervision of) and/or handling hazardous materials and waste at the Avient Protective Materials (Greenville, NC) work site. Worker has the appropriate qualifications to read, understand, apply and communicate written and verbal information regarding handling and managing hazardous wastes. Training is required within six months of worker assuming duty, and once a year thereafter.
Worker is responsible for proper handling, documentation, inspection and transporting around the facility of hazardous wastes. Worker may also be responsible for responding to emergencies involving hazardous waste.
Complexity of the Job
This role requires working on a rotating shift schedule. Assignments (shifts, equipment, and production area) are adjusted based on business needs. Production technicians are expected to work with team members and other support resources to ensure “first time right” material. Overtime will be assigned and/or requested based on business needs. Analyzing test samples to properly dilute solutions. Making judgement calls as to the quality of raw materials prior to introduction to the process. Balance workload and prioritize on an as needed basis. Job Expectations will expand throughout UD in Multiple capacities requiring a broad range of skill sets.

Required Level of Experience
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment and understanding of machine controls and instrumentation. Ability to follow appropriate SHE procedures. Ability to follow standard operating procedures and applicable work instructions. Taking responsibility and being accountable for personal behaviors and performance (self, equipment, and product). Analytical skills to be able to spot issues/deficiencies of varying complexity within the manufacturing process quickly and take appropriate and timely action to rectify. Mechanical competency and knowledge including equipment assembly. Ability to make informed and data driven decisions quickly, at times under pressure. Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation via hand-written forms and electronic database systems. Effective communication skills to receive information related to site and area goals, expectations and other pertinent information and translate to action in daily activities. Ability to organize, schedule and follow-up on activities based on area expectations and needs. Ability to contribute to, support and drive change management in the area. Capability to have interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills to effectively communicate with teammates and other area support groups. Basic computer skills. Ability to operate forklift and overhead cranes.Physical Demands

Proper personal safety equipment needs to be used while performing this job and that equipment is dictated by the plant safety guidelines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, and risk of electric shock, vibration, non-hazardous chemical agents and outside weather conditions. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
