We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader for the Radiation Oncology Department at Loyola Medicine. This position will oversee the daily operations, ensure a high standard of patient care, and manage a multidisciplinary team of radiation therapists, dosimetrists, medical physicists, patient care techs, and nurses. The manager will also work closely with physicians, administrators, and support staff to ensure the highest quality of patient care and improve overall department performance. Key responsibilities will include optimizing workflows, ensuring regulatory compliance and safety, managing day-to-day operations, program development, and quality improvement. The manager will be responsible for the fiscal management of the department and resource allocation to ensure that the department meets the overall objectives, goals, and initiatives during the fiscal year. The manager will collaborate and partner across many departments at Loyola Medicine to achieve organizational and department goals.
The Practice Manager of Radiation Oncology will continue to drive strong positive engagement for the team as well as driving for excellence in patient satisfaction.
Position responsibilities:
Provides input to department chair, executive director, vice presidents
and executive leader team engaged in strategic planning activities.
Analyzes environmental issues as well as quality and financial data in
order to assist in developing systematic plans for achievement of goals.
Adapts goals and department plans to provide responses to the
environment and successfully meets challenging, but achievable goals.
In collaboration with clinical leadership, assists in establishing standards
and strategic initiatives for quality radiation oncology patient care which
focuses on a goal of positive patient outcomes. Routinely measures and
monitors the well-being of assigned patient population; creates and
manages processes which contribute to continual performance
improvement. Actively supports and promotes lean Six Sigma within area
of responsibility. Ensures that the clinical department meets or exceed
regulatory requirements established by The Joint Commission (TJC),
Illinois Department of Public health (IDPH), Illinois Emergency
Management Agency (IEMA), The American College of Radiology (ACR),
The Ameican College of Radiaiton Oncology (ACRO). The American
Society of Radiaiton Oncology (ASTRO), The Centers for Medicare and
Medicaid Services (CMS) and other licensing/accrediting agencies.
Ensures adequate equipment and personnel resources are available to
allow scheduling of patient clinics and radiation oncology treatments and
procedures. Manages and develops operation budget including revenue,
expense, staff levels and capital equipment sufficient to meet current and
projected patient volume or service requirements.
Recruits, interviews, and selects staff in collaboration with other clinical
leadership and Human Resources to ensure that staffing guidelines
/standards are maintained. Maintains appropriate level of quality and
productivity to evaluate systems and staffing. Assists with development
and implementation of polices and management /operational structure to
ensure continuous quality care, patient access, customer service
excellence and enhanced profitability. Demonstrates improvement in the
quality and safety of radiation oncology patient care through
interdisciplinary unit based committee/mechanism, which monitors the
effectiveness /appropriateness and outcomes of patient care.
Fosters positive team collaboration and staff development to facilitate
efficient operations, employee engagement and achievement of patient
quality/safety/satisfaction or customer service excellence goals. Provides
educational opportunities for staff. Meets regularly with radiation
oncology department staff and faculty. Establishes and maintains
effective relations with internal and external contacts in both the
inpatient and outpatient environment.
Provides effective communication to department chair, executive director,
faculty and staff to establish collaboration and understanding of the
organization, mission, and strategic goals necessary to achieve
operational goals. Meets regularly with other departments and direct
reports to facilitate communication, goal setting and decision making.
Develops and implement strategies to assess, improve, and monitor
customer satisfaction of all customers including the health care team (i.e.
.management by walking around, working as auxiliary staff in times of
high volume or high vacancy rate, regular patient/family rounding).
Represents organization to the public and healthcare communities,
regulatory agencies, media and government. Actively engages in
professional development to maintain current skills and knowledge of
industry trends, clinical developments/ best practices and business
opportunities.
Is a working member of the team and provides, at least, one day per week
of clinical work. This will both help staff the department, but more
importantly, allow the manager to understand the daily operations of the
department.
Requirements:
Minimum Education:
Required: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred: Master's Degree
Minimum Experience:
Required: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience
Details: Experience in a Department of Radiation Oncology as a Radiation Therapist, Dosimetrist or Physicist with an active licensure or certification
Managerial Experience: 1-2 years
Details: Experience supplemented by Master's degree or other Leadership training. Master's degree required to be obtained within 5 years of hire
