About the opportunity
Amentum are recruiting an experienced Practitioner Planning Engineer to join our Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team supporting our key client EDF Energy Nuclear Generation with their nuclear fleet in the UK.
Since 1983 Dungeness B has generated low carbon electricity for 38.2 million homes and was the first Advanced Gas-cooled Reactor to begin construction in the UK. The station is now at a new phase in its life - defueling and decommissioning. This involves the safe removal of all spent fuel from the reactor core, the cooling ponds and stores whilst looking ahead and preparing for deconstruction. At a time of nuclear resurgence working for us at Dungeness B offers a unique opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within an operational defueling environment whilst also looking ahead to future potential opportunities in nuclear new build or decommissioning and deconstruction.
You will be part of a large client-led team at EDFs Dungeness B Power Station location and will be accountable to the client Project Controls Group Head, PPM and/or Operations Manager and will be responsible to develop and manage schedules to incorporate risk, change, resource requirements and cost in accordance with EDF Generation Company requirements and standards. The role will involve the creation of plans for the full project lifecycle including development and design in the Nuclear Defueling team, supporting delivery of the client’s ALR2 commitments Based predominantly at the Dungeness Power Station and will require from time to time, business travel to UK sites/stations. Flexible working arrangements between office and home may be possible, however the role will predominantly be based at the Power Station.
