Circulating Nurse
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and versatile Circulating Nurse to join our dynamic surgical team. This is a fill-in/float position for the operating floor, requiring the ability to assist in various aspects outside the surgery room. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, proactive, and skilled in maintaining seamless communication and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Communication: Facilitate communication between surgical team members and staff/family outside the operating room.Reporting: Inform the Surgical Nursing Director of case progress and report any unusual circumstances.Supply Management: Obtain and ensure the availability of necessary supplies and equipment for each procedure.Preparation: Ensure adequate amounts of surgical and anesthetic supplies are in the operating room prior to scheduled cases.Equipment Check: Verify the proper functioning of suctions, lights, and other essential equipment.Room Arrangement: Arrange operating rooms for specific operative procedures.Scrub and Needle Counts: Perform scrub and needle counts with the Scrub Nurse, record and sign counts immediately, and report unresolved counts to the OR Director.Faulty Instruments: Receive faulty instruments from the Scrub Nurse, mark them appropriately, and return them to the workroom.Specimen Handling: Receive specimens from the Scrub Nurse, place them in appropriate containers, label them properly, and complete pathology slips.Decontamination: Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment using approved detergents and disinfectant solutions.Sterilization: Sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies using ultrasonic cleaners, steam sterilizers, and steris.Equipment Reporting: Report malfunctioning equipment to the Director of Surgical Nursing.Supply Distribution: Distribute supplies and stock sterile storage areas.Supply Rotation: Rotate sterile supplies and remove outdated items.Skills & Qualifications:
Current licensure in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse.Minimum of three years of progressive work experience in an Operating Room, including both clinical and management skills.About ActalentActalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
