Primary Purpose of this Job The primary purpose of this pre-apprenticeship is to develop a strong understanding of manufacturing and shop floor practices and comply with all safety and regulatory requirements. Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned) + Support staff in various departments. + Work as a resource for management on special projects and initiatives. + Understand and learn the safety requirements of operating machine tools and working in a machine shop environment. + Understand and learn the quality processes of the facility. + Assist in kitting for proper setup of equipment prior to machining. + Assist in the machining process through the mentorship of experienced machine operators. + Understand and assist in the necessary preventative maintenance of machine tools. + Be exposed to precision measuring equipment. + Support process improvement and cost reduction activities. + Participate in lean manufacturing events including 5S, TPM, and CIL improvement activities. + Other duties as assigned. + Authority to perform all tasks/activities responsible for.
