Reporting to the Director of Sponsored Programs (or designee), this position will work closely with faculty, staff and administration to develop and submit proposals for sponsored funding at SUNY New Paltz. The position encourages faculty and staff in seeking research/sponsored funding by meeting with individual faculty to identify potential funding sources and disseminating relevant funding opportunity information; facilitating proposal and budget development; and coordinating the preparation, submission, and review of all campus proposals. Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: • Assisting in proposal development, preparing proposal budgets and submission packages.• Working closely with the Provost’s Office and Director to ensure compliance with federal, state, SUNY Research Foundation, and institutional guidelines and procedures.• Facilitating institutional approval and all submissions of all campus proposals• Monitoring and researching a range of sources for potential funding opportunities.• Communicating regularly with campus constituencies to provide funding-related information and facilitate grant-seeking collaboration across units. Qualifications: Required:• Bachelor’s degree• At least three years of experience in sponsored programs administration, budgeting, or a related field.• Working knowledge of the elements of a proposal, including standard proposal terms, budget development, and types of submissions.• Knowledge of federal, state, and local guidelines, related to sponsored programs, and ability to understand and interpret sponsor guidelines and regulations.• Excellent oral and written communication skills• Ability to work independently and establish effective working relationships with a range of campus and external partners.• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
