Pre-Press Technician

Job Purpose:

Our Pre-Press Technician will use tools and software to prepare and produce printing plates for both Flexographic and Offset printing presses. This role will work with the Accounts Management Group and electronic files received from customers to produce proofs and create plates that meet customer specifications as it relates to all aspects of the printing process.

Job Responsibilities:

● Receive and process files and artwork electronically using variety of software specific to printing and pre-press. 
● Troubleshoot customer files, graphics and color matching. 
● Review all graphics and make recommendations to improve when necessary. 
● Prepare all files using various printing and pre-press software. 
● Produce proofs and mock-ups as needed. 
● Review original artwork against proofs to ensure printing specifications are maintained. 
● Document and communicate when changes need to be made to files and plates. 
● Communicate with internal teams regarding projects and job requirements. 
● Complete preventative maintenance and cleaning on equipment as needed. 
● Coordinate outside vendor repair and maintenance to equipment.

Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications:

● High level of color competency. 
● Uncompromised attention to detail. 
● Time management skills and ability to work in fast paced, changing work environment. 
● High proficiency level of Macintosh OS. 
● Familiarity with pre-press technology such as ESKO, Adobe, Photoshop, and Dupont. 
● Knowledge of printing terminology and processes.

Work Experience:

● 1-3 years of related job experience.● Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.● Ability to work quickly and efficiently.● Software program experience with SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD, TOPS and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Pro).

Education:

● Associate Degree Preferred

Working Conditions:
The work environment for this position requires:
● Regularly working in a non-climate-controlled warehouse where exposure to cold, heat, damp or humid conditions may occur.
● Exposure to loud noise.
● Exposure to dust, mechanical hazards, moving objects, and moving vehicles.

Physical Requirements:
The physical requirements listed below are representative of those needed to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 
● Ability to lift, twist and carry up 50 - 75 pounds, manipulate (push and pull) up to 160 pounds of product with material handling equipment and skids weighing up to 2,000 pounds utilizing pallet jack.
● Walking/Standing - walk throughout the warehouse to complete customer orders. Stand when operating order picker or reach truck equipment and when operating cutter.
● Sitting - sit only when driving sit-down material handling equipment.  
● Lifting - lift items weighing a few ounces up to 150 pounds with assistance .
● Stooping - performed when filling orders or putting away products assigned to floor level locations. May bend at the waist.
● Kneeling -  kneel when filling orders or putting away products assigned to floor level locations.
