Job Description

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Teacher Education Admission, Enrollment, and Diversity, the Pre-Program Advisor, CEEL plays a vital role in supporting the success of our undergraduate and graduate programs in the College for Education and Engage Learning. This role collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a seamless student experience. Responsibilities for this role focus on advising prospective students, facilitating admissions activities, managing the enrollment lifecycle, and contributing to initiatives that build a diverse and highly qualified class of students.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Teacher Education Admissions and Diversity to create and execute annual strategic admissions plans that prioritize building a diverse student body.

Participate in on-campus and off-campus events (open houses, information sessions, classroom visits, college fairs, transfer fairs, and job fairs) for strategic recruitment.

Serve as a trusted advisor to prospective students, parents, and constituents, offering in-depth knowledge and up-to-date information on our teacher education programs (undergraduate and graduate).

Assist in the development and implementation of strategic plans for undergraduate and graduate strategic recruitment.

Provide support for the development of recruitment and admission programs to diversify new student admission.

Develop and maintain a robust network of education stakeholders including community colleges, feeder schools, professional organizations to foster collaboration and support for our programs.

Conduct research to identify key demographics and interests, inform targeted strategies that optimize application submission, acceptance, and enrollment in CEEL programs.

Analyze unit data to evaluate activities related to targeted recruitment, admissions, and enrollment.

Make data-informed decisions to improve and innovate unit activities.

Track applications and contribute to the rigorous review and assessment of applications for CEEL programs, playing a vital role in selecting highly qualified and motivated students.

Coordinate admission activities to support departmental review of applications and interviews.

Ensure seamless processing of applications.

Liaise with academic departments to inform them of undergraduate and graduate admissions processes and policies.

Stay abreast of admissions and advisement best practices, university-wide initiatives/academic updates and state and federal requirements concerning teacher education.

Collaborate with key administrative offices (Undergraduate & Transfer Admissions, The Graduate School, Registrar, etc.) to optimize student application processes and support, and program visibility for CEEL programs.

Align with the Office of Advisement and Retention and academic departments to provide a seamless transition for admitted students, ensuring they have all the resources and support needed to thrive in our program.

Continuously monitor and update the CEEL resources / materials, ensuring accuracy and availability of information pertaining to CEEL programs and requirements.

Partner with student groups and organizations aligned with CEEL programs to develop and support initiatives that benefit students and the broader community.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED: 

Master's degree from an accredited university.

Minimum three (3) years of professional experience in an institution of higher education, education, or a related field.

Demonstrated ability to understand and work with a diverse population with a variety of racial, socioeconomic, linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

PREFERRED:

Experience using student information systems and customer relationship (CRM) systems to support student success throughout the enrollment lifecycle.

Experience with programmatic Academic Advisement.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and internal / external stakeholders.

Bi- or multi-lingual.
