This position is responsible for providing leadership for and managingthe delivery of thePrecision Feed Management (PFM) program to participating farms in the New York City Watershed Agricultural Program (WAP).
The PFM Team Leaderprovides leadership for the development and implementation of PFM, which includes integration of Feed Management Plan (FMP) development, PFM Quality Management Assistance efforts, and feed management monitoring/benchmarking across the disciplines of crop production and dairy and beef cattle nutrition and production. The Team Leader alsocoordinates and conducts programmatic analysis and reporting on behalf of the PFM program. The Team Leader is responsible for supervision of educators working within the Precision Feeding Team in the WAP. The Team Leader will assist with on-farm PFM planning and implementation efforts of the team by maintaining a portfolio of assigned farms. The Team Leader provides leadership and strategic direction to the PFM team, technical guidance and administrative support, as well as programmatic analysis and reporting.
Additionally, the team leader provides planning and implementation of specific farmer education program efforts of CCEDC through the NYCWAP in support of PFM objectives. The Team Leader will assist in representing the Association to the public, community leaders, government officials and Cornell University.
+ Master’s Degree in or Animal Science, Crop Science or Farm Management or relevant disciplines appropriate to performing the responsibilities of the position.
+ At least two years of progressively responsible experience in Cooperative Extension or equivalent professional agricultural experience in education in an academic, or industry setting related to crop management in the context of a variety of producers and situations in dairy/livestock enterprises.
+ Experience must include two years interactive experience with agriculture producers.
+ American Animal Science Society Professional Animal Scientist certification.
+ Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
+ Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.

+ Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
+ Proficiency with windows-based software including use of the internet and Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel.
+ At least two years extensive experience and knowledge in integrating the disciplines of herd, business and crop management with a variety of producers and situations.
+ Experience in development of feed management plans.
+ Experience with or knowledge of agriculture/water quality issues.
+ Experience with inter-organizational teamwork.
+ Leadership experience in the agriculture arena.
+ Understanding of the dynamic relationship of crop management, herd management and business management.
+ Evidence of strong interpersonal skills.
+ General knowledge of the principles, theory, research and appropriate application of crop management.
+ Ability to initiate, plan, implement, teach and evaluate informal adult educational programs to address diverse audiences.
+ Ability to define, conduct and interpret applied research/demonstration projects.
+ Recognized ability to identify and utilize program resources within the community.
+ Ability to lead and effectively participate in professional team effort.
+ Ability to work with and support volunteer leadership and advisory committees.
+ Ability to relate effectively to co-workers, advisor, community and professional leaders and identified clientele.
+ Effective use of a variety of program delivery methods to reach individuals and groups.
+ Ability to communicate effectively through oral, written and visual channels using traditional tools as well as innovative applications of electronic technology (e.g., computers, audio, video, etc.).
This is a full-time (40 hrs./week) benefits eligible, exempt position. Annual compensation paid at $75,000.
