Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Preconstruction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in performing quantity takeoffs for various construction trades and preparing accurate estimates for large-scale projects. This role requires a strong understanding of historical cost data, excellent communication skills, and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors.
ResponsibilitiesPerform quantity takeoffs for construction trades including demolition, earthwork, concrete, masonry, steel, carpentry, finishes, mechanical, and electrical.Assist with pricing labor, material, and equipment using historical data, past experience, and subcontractor, supplier, and rental firm pricing.Prepare accurate estimates for large projects, including multi-housing, historic repurpose, additions, and small projects.Prepare cost analysis including equipment, general conditions, materials, and labor under the leadership of senior estimating staff.Confirm subcontractor participation and work closely with operations and senior level estimators on subcontractor analysis and buyout processes for negotiated projects.Develop and execute plans to continuously improve subcontractor relationships.Keep senior level estimators informed of key issues and opportunities that impact project success.Identify training and development opportunities to enhance job performance and career objectives.Respond to and complete all other duties, tasks, and projects as assigned.Maintain vendor database.Essential SkillsProven experience in estimation and preconstruction for commercial construction projects.A 4-year degree or industry equivalency in architecture, engineering, or construction is desired.Minimum 3-10 years of direct construction experience preferred.Ability to budget projects with minimal vendor involvement.Strong understanding of historical cost data.Excellent communication and documentation skills.Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.Capability to initiate and coordinate activities independently.Proficiency in MS Office software, including Word, Excel, and Project.Additional Skills & QualificationsPositively represent the brand and develop strong relationships with customers and team members.Team-oriented and flexible in assuming new responsibilities as they arise.Work Environment
The work environment is dynamic and collaborative, with a focus on large-scale commercial construction projects. The role requires the use of MS Office software, including Word, Excel, and Project. Flexibility and a team-oriented attitude are essential, as responsibilities may evolve based on project needs and opportunities.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $170000.00
