The Prep Cook @ Magnolia Glen prepares cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and other meal items.
Set up workstations and ingredients so that food can be prepared according to recipes as well as undertake basic cooking duties to support the Cooks and Chef de Cuisine.

 

Schedule: FT Open availability

 

Pay Rate$16-$18

What will I do every day?

Follow the prep list created to plan duties
· Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
· Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
· Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and other meal
prep
· Set up workstations and ingredients so that food can be prepared according to recipes
· Undertake basic cooking duties, such as reducing sauces and parboiling food
· Prepare simple dishes, such as salads and entrees

 

Qualifications and Skills:

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as neededAbility to fully support kitchen brigade associatesPossesses understanding of “mise en place” through proper placement and preparation of

ingredients

Must have good communication skillsMust have great attention to detailMust be comfortable working in a fast paced environment

Education/Experience:

High school graduate preferredTraining from a culinary school is a plusOne year experience as a prep cook

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Basic competency in the use of multiple forms of technology, including: Microsoft Office applications, internet-based and custom applicationsAbility to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as neededAbility to fully support kitchen brigade associatesDemonstrates understanding of Mise en Place through proper placement and preparation of ingredients

Special Requirements/Certifications:

Must have Food Handler’s certification as required.
