Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: + Review building, planning, fire, and civil project plans ; + Access and review permitting software ; + Access GIS database ; + Compile plan information to create a pre-incident plan (preplan) utilizing CAD software ; + Update existing preplan drawings utilizing CAD software ; + Update dispatch CAD systems ; + Respond to inquiries, requests, and complaints in a positive, professional and timely manner ; + Make field visits and meet with customers to verify plan accuracy ; + Update Town systems with correct preplan information using GIS software ; + Respond to preplan inquiries , requests , and complaints from internal and external customers ; + Update Energov permitting software ; + Coordinate distribution of AutoCAD drawings for the preplanning process for the E-911 CAD Dispatch System ; + Work on special projects as needed by management or public officials ; + Provide required permits with preplan information ; + Consult with E-911 personnel, emergency service providers, and other Town departments regarding preplanning issues ; + Provides information to the public regarding preplan concerns ; + Conducts research to resolve preplan problems and errors ; + Communicate with other staff regarding project status, history, and preplan concerns ; + Provide addressing support for Address Technician ; + View full job description here: Preplan Technician Job Description (https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/gilbert/classspecs/newprint/1691783) About You This is an administrative and technical position responsible for creating and maintaining all Town pre-incident plans used by the Fire and Police Departments. Incumbents review building, planning, fire, and civil project plans, update drawings and coordinate information in conjunction with the E-911 CAD Dispatch System. They work with various internal departments and external agencies, make field visits, and meet with customers to verify plan accuracy. Duties are performed under the direction of the Fire Marshal. In addition to possessing the ability to live out our core and functional values daily, candidates must possess the following requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: + Associate degree or equivalent coursework from an accredited college or university in Geography, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning , Fire Science or a closely related field ; + Two (2) years of experience in reading and interpreting a wide variety of maps, aerial photography, plats, and technical data input and analysis ; + T wo (2) years of AutoCAD experience ; + T wo (2) years of GIS experience, which includes working with spatial information ; + Must maintain good interpersonal and communication skills to work with the public ; + Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work. LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS + Possession of a valid Arizona driver's license upon offer of employment with a driving record acceptable to the Town of Gilbert Driving Policy and insurance program.
