Work where you matter.** **A Brief Overview** The President and Chief Executive Officer is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and administration of all aspects of the health services activities and other corporate entities to ensure compliance with established objectives and the realization of quality, economical healthcare services and other related lines of business. Additionally, the Regional President serves to provide management advice and consultation, and direction to Administrators of the Avera Health facilities within each of the established service regions. The Regional President shall assist in the interpretation of Policies / Directives, as applicable, and the implementation of plans and programs that enhance and strengthen the healthcare mission of Avera Health in its entirety. **What you will do** + Participate with the governing board in charting the course the health system is to take in response to the developing needs of the community and carry it out accordingly. + Receive input, inform, and provide recommendations to the Sponsors and Avera Health through the mechanisms set forth by the Sponsors. + Recommend and update long-range plans that support the organization's philosophy and general objectives. + Recommend organizational policy positions regarding legislation, government, administrative policy, and other matters of public policy. + Inform and advise trustees regarding current trends, problems, and activities in healthcare to facilitate policy making. + In coordination with the Board, the medical staff and other health services personnel, respond to the community's need for quality health services by monitoring the adequacy of the health system's medical activities. + Consult with relevant personnel and departments prior to recommending/establishing new policies and the available resources to implement same. + Coordinate efforts of medical staff, board, and administrative staff in the recruitment and retention of medical staff. + Ensure the provision of affordable healthcare services by the acquisition, utilization and organization of available resources (human, financial and physical) and the development of improved techniques and practices. + Monitor the long-range fundraising efforts for the institution. + Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies governing healthcare delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies by continually monitoring the operations and its programs and physical properties, and initiating changes where Encourage the integration of the health services with the community through effective communication and public relations programs. + Provide assistance to supervisory personnel in establishing department philosophy and objectives, determining staffing needs and standards of productivity; establishing policies and procedures and job classifications; and complying with federal, state, and local codes, regulations, and ordinances. + Represent the health system in its relationships with other health agencies, organizations, and groups in dealing with government agencies and third-party payors; at top-level management meetings (national, state, and local). + Maintain professional affiliations and enhance professional growth and development to keep abreast of latest trends in hospital and healthcare administration. + Promotes and supports Avera Health programs and services in an effort to strengthen the overall mission of Avera Health. + Provides management oversight and direction to the sponsored and managed facilities / programs of Avera Health in their designated region. + Provides leadership in implementing the Avera Health strategic goals and objectives within the region. + Participates in discussions with other healthcare facilities regarding contract management agreements or other relationships. + Maintains a current assessment on health care delivery within their service region. + Performs other duties as designated by the Avera Health President / CEO and/or COO. + Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. **Essential Qualifications** The individual must be able to work the hours specified.
