Presidential Communications Assistant University Communications JOB SUMMARY: The Presidential Communications Assistant will provide administrative and writing support to the Senior Director of Presidential Communications for all Department of University Communications initiatives that support the President. Title Position Reports To:Senior Director of Presidential Communications SALARY INFORMATION: In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $43,900 - $48,900. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University. Assist in managing the president’s public e-mail. a. Log all emails requiring a response. b. Prepare first drafts of notes for review and distribution. c. Compile previews of outgoing emails for approval. d. Work with campus partners to create, manage and update mailing lists for the president’s newsletters and special events. 2. Assist in writing communications for the president. a. Draft communications as assigned by the supervisor to be reviewed, edited and approved. b. Draft congratulatory/thank you notes from the President and create spreadsheets to track these notes and recipients. 3. Assist in managing the president’s social media channels. a. Consistently monitor the President’s accounts on Instagram, X, Facebook and LinkedIn. b. Identify opportunities for engagement with students, faculty, staff, alumni and peers. c. Draft posts as assigned by the supervisor to be reviewed, edited and approved. d. Take photos/videos at events with the President for use on social media. 4. Proofread and offer suggestions for communications, including campus-wide emails from the president, monthly newsletters, etc. 5. Special tasks/projects as assigned. a. Provide research assistance as needed. b. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: 1. Discretion, diplomacy, and confidentiality on a wide range of issues. 2. Organization skills and meticulous attention to detail. 3. Exceptional verbal and writing skills, particularly grammar and spelling. 4. Ability to prioritize workload according to volume, urgency, etc. 5. Flexibility to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately. EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 1. Bachelor’s degree is required. 2. Previous experience working in higher education, communications, government relations, journalism, public relations or similar fields is preferred.
