Team Members and or dependent of a team member of Pattison Food Group are eligible to apply for the Presidential Scholarships.
The following three scholarships, Steve van der Leest, Doug Townsend, and Clarence Heppell, are in recognition of our past presidents and their commitments and contributions to our company and communities.
In order to apply for one of the following scholarships, you must be a team member (or dependent of a team member) who has worked with the company for at least one year as of May 31, 2025.
As part of the application process, you’ll be asked to include the following for all scholarships:
Reference letters: two letters of reference from individuals who can speak to the meaningful contributions you’ve made to your school, store and community (Word or PDF format).
Transcript: a copy of your most recent transcript (Word or PDF format).
Please ensure all required documents are uploaded before submitting your application.
All team members (or their dependents) who meet these criteria are welcome to apply on or before May 31, 2025.

Steve van der Leest Scholarship
In recognition of past our past president, Steve van der Leest, and his commitment to supporting our local communities, the environment and local growers and ranchers, this scholarship is presented annually to a recipient who has demonstrated leadership in building strong communities, a more sustainable environment and supporting humanitarian efforts.
Applicants must be registered for a full-time program at an accredited college or university leading to a diploma or degree.
As part of your application, you’ll be asked to include examples of how you have demonstrated commitment to any of the following:
Environment
Nature preservation
Agriculture
Food security
Humanitarian causes
Doug Townsend Scholarship
In honour of Doug Townsend's outstanding contributions as past president and his legacy of strong business ethics – we‘re proud to present an annual scholarship in his memory.
Applicants must be registered for a full-time program, leading to a degree or diploma concentrated in the area of business or commerce at an accredited college or university.
As part of your application, you’ll be asked to include examples of why you have selected business as your area of study.
Clarence Heppell Scholarship
During Clarence Heppell’s time as our company president, he demonstrated determination, integrity and exceptional leadership. This scholarship is awarded annually to a student who exemplifies leadership and maintains a strong academic record.
Applicants must be graduating from Grade 12 and registered for a full-time program, leading to a degree or diploma at an accredited college or university.
As part of your application, you’ll be asked to include examples of how you have increased student well-being in your high school.
