Fits mechanical parts and subassemblies into different types of machinery and products, which may include complex assemblies. Conducts measures of products and adjusts them. Works according to established trade and shop practices, may conduct minor repairs of machines and systems. May assist in training of entry level coworkers. Typically has more than 5 years of experience and works under general direction.The Press Operator is responsible for forming metal parts, assembling parts into sub-units or complete units by operating a press brake.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Read and interpret mechanical drawings to determine appropriate die or punch to form partsRead and interpret blueprints to ensure proper dimensions and tolerances of finished productSelect and verify programs needed to operate the pressSet-up machine including die and punch changesAssemble parts into sub-units or complete unitsVerify the correct number of items are producedQuality control of items producedOperate crane as neededOperate tow motor as neededSafety and housekeepingOther duties as requested, directed, or assigned by the SupervisorRequirements:
High School diploma, or equivalent, is preferredPrevious experience operating a press brakeWork Environment:
This position operates in a plant environment of noise, dust, odors, and fumes. Possible exposure to any number of elements, but none present to the extent of being disagreeable. Excessive heat in the summertime.
Physical Demands:
Regularly required to stand (8 hours), bend (2 hours), reach (5 hours) and move about the facilityRegularly required to lift, push, or pull up to 70 poundsMove material as needed using a forklift (4 hours)
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
Required to wear safety shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
