Position Summary:  To monitor all aspect of the printing process.

 

JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Complies with all company and department safety, quality, productivity and security procedures. Ensures accuracy and compliance of operator documentation involving all aspects of the assigned machines.  This includes production reports, specification verification, quality requirements, machine logbooks and checklists. Monitors and adjusts print register, side to side alignment, de-curl unit, Kochsiek delivery adjustments including: timing and belt tensions to maximize quality and minimize waste. Monitors special work assignments of team members as introduced by department manager and supervisors. Leads activities of crew. Provides job instruction and training for all employees. Communicates all machine and department issues effectively to department manager and supervisors and presents data based solutions in keeping with Continuous Improvement Objectives. Monitors carton quality to include; print to cut, scores, and print quality.  Uses AVT system to monitor quality of carton. Responsible for communicating to Lead Finishing Operators regarding production changeovers, A&F system and all related issues. Performs other duties as assigned by department manager. Will assist in "breaking out" unwind, ink and operator as needed. Follow quality procedures to include: ink density, Delta e and color. Understands and monitors the 5S system and takes full ownership of working environment. Assist with stacking off product when necessary. Assist when possible in keeping WIP materials to a minimum, by helping to stack in WIP materials as deemed necessary by situation or events. Assist Finishing Lead Operator as needed and when possible, to improve and optimize up-time, productivity, waste and quality. Monitor cutting, stack quality and consistency. Sets up computer and AVT system on all job changes. Clears and/or removes jams. Assists with the foaming of dies and changing pins. Change out modules. Operate A&F system. Replace belts in delivery. Leads make-ready activities. Change doctor blades and seals. Set print impressions. Monitors line speed. Lays out print deck to graphic lay down sequence and prepares press accordingly. Monitors ink blade pressure and leaks. Troubleshoots all printing and press related issues.  Notifies other resources as necessary in a timely manner to minimize press downtime. Culls waste material, bad product bands scrap waste pallets and transfers them. Powers down machine at shutdown. Assists Flexo Operator and other coworkers as needed. Fills out Flint envelops for all ink related problems. Completes preventative maintenance on equipment to include: oiling, greasing and cleaning. Records preventative maintenance activities into SAP.

 

Required Skills:

Must be willing to accept training and feedback as needed (for compliance with job requirements). Ability to communicate effectively in order to establish a strong working relationship with all team members. Must be able to visually identify quality issues.

Required Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent GED Work experience in manufacturing environment 2-5 years of Flexographic experience
