Summary:
The Chicago Tribune is seeking a Press Operator to join our team! The press operator uses pressroom equipment to analyze print orders and assign specific pages and sections to run on offset printing presses. This role collaborates with others in pressroom to effectively print and produce papers in a timely manner.
What you will do:
Use pressroom equipment to analyze print orders and assign specific pages (color/black) and sections to run on offset printing presses
Determine proper press configurations, mark information on sheets for dissemination to crew supervisors
Enter information into computer systems and insert command codes to presses
Collaborate with supervisors to ensure proper newsprint rolls are loaded into system for use on offset units
Communicate timing, page sizes, and production runs to packaging supervisors and other departments as necessary
Answer phones and route calls to appropriate individuals or take messages
What you will bring:
Proficiency in collaborative teamwork and effective communication
Ability to operate and use equipment effectively
Demonstrated organizational skills
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Six months or more experience in an offset pressroom preferred
