We have an outstanding career opportunity for a Press Shift Supervisor to join a leading Company located in the Union, SC surrounding area.
The Press Shift Supervisor is responsible for the daily management and efficient operations of the Press department on his or her assigned 3rd shift. The Press Supervisor will ensure that Press lines meet production, safety, and quality goals according to company standards. This position will support production and maintenance to minimize downtime and seek continuous improvement activities to improve the operations of the Press Department. The Press Supervisor will manage and provide leadership to approximately 20 hourly production employees for a Class A, automotive stamping facility.
Responsibilities:Report daily production, and update schedules and manpower based on production needs and inventory levelsManage manpower needsLead in continuous improvement efforts based on Key Performance Indicators (KPI) dataPartner with the other departments to ensure proper support is maintained for the press room for quality, maintenance, and raw materialsManage the departmental costs to keep on or below budgetConduct/Manage performance evaluation of hourly employeesOversee safety, quality, cost, delivery, and management activities in the stamping zones including daily operations as well as continuous improvementCoordinate activities with opposite shift productionEffectively utilize and continuously improve the use of labor, equipment, quality, safety, and productivity within cost and delivery parametersAnalyze and act on all quality concerns with staffThoroughly explain quality alerts and ensure containmentAssist with 8D problem-solvingExercise proactive best supervisory practices in hiring, training, discipline, coaching, development, and termination with all staffParticipate in daily and weekly production and management meetingsVisually monitor daily proper parts handling practices, monitor associates' work areas being free from clutter, and recognize and address all safety concerns/violations in their assigned areasEnsure that all hourly associates within the department on assigned shifts receive the necessary training to accomplish their assigned dutiesIdentify training gapsOften perform training personallyProperly document trainingFollow all state, federal, OSHA, and corporate health, safety, and environmental laws, regulations policies, and proceduresThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classificationThey are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills requiredAll personnel may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities as needed by the business
Basic Hiring Criteria:Associated degree in a technical field, and/or skilled trades training in tool and die or mechatronics preferredMinimum 5 years of production experience in a similar industrial setting (stamping/welding/robotics) requiredMinimum 5 years of supervisory experience in leading production teams required
Desired Qualifications:Excellent Class A part experience preferredExcellent knowledge of class A/B/C parts (press and assembly parts) preferredProgramming knowledge: Industrial: PLC's, Robots (Robotic arms, welding) preferredLean Manufacturing tools (VSM‐VSD, SMED, 5S, KAIZEN, Ergonomics and Security & Lean) preferredInterprets spreadsheetsUnderstand operational reporting metricsAbility to lead and motivate othersConducts performance evaluationsLeads by example and demonstrates respect for others with a positive and supportive attitudeExcellent communication skills including written, verbal, and listeningMicrosoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) intermediate level requiredAbility to manage shifts within the department's budget
