Brand Description

The Inspectors of the Pressure Vessels Services (PVS) group are responsible to ensure the safety and integrity of pressure vessels, piping systems, and other regulated pressure equipment. The PVS Inspectors are to be a resource to influence the design, construction, vendor selection, and maintenance of Eli Lilly owned or operated equipment.

Responsibilities

Perform in-service inspections of regulated pressure vessels owned by Eli Lilly.Provide guidance and leadership for the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of pressure vessels and ensure all work meets current code and jurisdictional requirements.Perform inspections of pressure vessels at fabricators’ facilities to ensure code compliance, specification adherence, and overall quality of workmanship.Perform inspection of welds in hygienic piping systems and miscellaneous pressure equipment.Perform audits to evaluate fabricators’ procedures and capability to fabricate equipment that meets Lilly’s requirements.Review and assist in development of equipment purchase specifications and fabrication drawings.Perform miscellaneous vessel inspections, weld inspections, PMI (Positive Material Identification), remote visual inspection, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), surface finish measurement, slope, spray coverage, etc.Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel code, ASME B31 piping codes, National Board Inspection Code, ASME Bioprocessing Equipment standard and other applicable codes, standards, and regulations.Each inspector is responsible to act in accordance with all Lilly health, safety, and environmental rules and regulations. Also, each inspector must be current (expect 100% compliance) with all health, safety, and environmental training.

Basic Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.Five (5) years of education/experience in the design, construction, repair, operation, or inspection of power boilers and unfired pressure vessels.Must have a valid National Board Commission or must pass the National Board Commission examination within an agreed upon time frame; or must be an AWS certified welding inspector (CWI) or an authorized API570 piping inspector with five (5) years of experience in the design, fabrication, or examination of industrial pressure piping.Must be capable of passing ASNT SNT-TC-1A, Level II PT and VT qualification examinations.Must have reasonable computer skills to use MS Word© and Excel©. Must be able to navigate and use GMARS© sufficiently to input or retrieve information.Must be able to read and understand P&IDs and fabrication drawings of equipment.Must have a valid driver’s license.Must be able to speak, read, and write English to a level to understand and communicate technical information effectively.Must be able to enter and exit vessels, climb stairs and ladders, and use a

respirator.

Must be able to work in inclement weather and confined spaces.Have vision of 20/20 or correctable to 20/20. Must be able to distinguish color contrast.

Additional Skills/ Preferences

Previous experience with the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel code, ASME B31 piping codes, and ASME BPE standard.Previous pharmaceutical industry experience.Previous experience as an NDT examiner.

Additional Information

Tasks may require repetitive motion, lifting (25 pounds), standing for long periods of time.50-75% travel required.Job conditions and locations vary daily. Some examples include but not limited to the following:  office areas, labs, process buildings, clean rooms, mechanical rooms, roof tops, construction sites, vendor fabrication facilities.Continuing Education requirements as defined by the National Board.Must be able to use a wide range of test equipment properly.Standard work shift is Monday thru Friday, 8-hour days. Other Flex shifts may be possible. Night and weekend work may be required.
