Department Overview
Emergency Preparedness and Response, Strategy and Execution, is responsible for enterprise level emergency management planning, training, exercises, and prevention within PG&E’s Wildfire, Emergency & Operations. The Strategy and Execution Prevention Section is responsible for business continuity planning, coworker preparedness, administration of mutual assistance, including coordination of related and integrated training and exercises, and other related emergency management activities including response support. The Prevention Section provides oversight to the company strategy and objectives aligning with executive leadership to address resiliency, tenacity, and full recovery of essential functions.
Position Summary
The Prevention Manager partners with other leaders and PG&E subject matter experts to develop and recommend a strategic direction for emergency preparedness and response and public partnerships primarily focused on business continuity planning and coworker preparedness. Oversees staff involved in implementation of emergency plans & processes, training, emergency exercises/drills, communication and actual incident management. Serves as a liaison to public safety agencies during emergencies. Ensures compliance with all company and regulatory safety policies and practices.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
Bay Minimum: $140,000
Bay Maximum: $238,000
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Job Responsibilities
Supervises coworkers and collaborates with subject matter experts in the execution of all program goals and objectives Develops strategic relationships with agency partners at the operational level. Utilizes knowledge of the industry, continuous process improvement opportunities and company business needs to assist in the development of emergency management strategy aligned with the business and related emergency management groups in the company. Presents recommendations to the director of Strategy and Execution for approval and implementation planning. Coordinates the update of over 65 business continuity plans, marshals the development of new plans, and ensures compliance with applicable standards. Supervises delivery of program related planning, training, exercise and emergency planning and response services to all lines of business. Supports increased preparedness and capabilities, instills advanced understanding of the California Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS) based on the Incident Command System (ICS), and builds credible public safety partnerships. Ensures an adequate level of preparedness across all staff in their assigned emergency roles. Ensures the completion of preparedness activities across multiple departments depending on the level of the emergency. Provides operational support to the planning, development and implementation of electric or gas emergency incident restoration and recovery efforts. Monitors weather and provides interpretation of the Storm Outage Prediction Program model and fire behavior modelling, interpreting and escalating alertness levels as appropriate. Assists with the implementation of emergency activation levels and use of mutual assistance as appropriate. Assists with the development of emergency recovery metrics. Collects information from post event critiques and implements action items are completed and enforced. May solicit feedback from public emergency agencies on the quality of PG&E’s response. Analyzes trends and recommends improvements to Senior Manager. May attend meetings and support presentation to several external emergency management organizations such as the State Office of Emergency Services (OES), CA Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), California Utilities Emergency Association (CUEA), and Western Energy Institute (WEI). Manages staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and rewards and recognition
Qualifications
Minimum:
Bachelors Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience 8 years total relevant experience. 2 years of experience in a utility or related field. 5 years in emergency management or related field
Desired:
Certification or credential in business continuity management/planning, continuity of operations planning, or equivalent Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) by the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM), or equivalent. NIMS-National Incident Management System 100, 200, 300, 400, IS-700, and IS-800. HSEEP-Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program certification California Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS) G606 Course Completion MEPP-Master Exercise Practitioner Program certification Experience with Lean and Six Sigma principles
