We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Preventive Care Specialist - 215-219 54th Street, Brooklyn.
In this role, the successful candidate Provides supportive services to the dentist who is performing the services and/or procedures in Orthodontics.
Job Responsibilities:
Pours and trims patient study model impressions taken by the dentist and completes laboratory forms accuratelyDevelops and manages patient engagement services and programs that promotes access to carePlace and remove temporary appliancesApply desensitizing agents to the teethApply topical anticariogenic agents to the teethRemove temporary cement (not including temporary fillings)Take Impressions for space maintainers, orthodontic appliances and occlusal guardsAssumes the standards of care related to infection control; all OSHA guidelines, Joint Commission guidelines & safety are upheld at the station they are assigned.Provides chairside assistance to the dentist, utilizing proper four-handed dentistry techniques while observing universal precautions/protocols and sterile techniquesProvides clinical services within scope of license and training based on NYS guidelinesPoint of contact for patient regarding care cycle, insurance and payment arrangementsSets-up and breakdowns dental operatory following all infection control guidelines. Maintains the dental operatory in an organized and clean fashion. Assures that appropriate instruments and supplies are available for patient careTakes, exposes, develops and mounts radiographs in accordance with guidelinesPrepares instruments, materials and medicaments to be usedDocuments patient records as dictated by dentist. Assists the dentist in filling out charts accurately and processing the patients forms and records either manually or utilizing the Electronic Dental Record systemSterilizes and/or disinfects instruments and hand pieces following guidelines of the Dental Department Infection Control Manual and manufacturer instruction for useCleans instruments and prepares them for sterilizationPrepares the patient for treatment by seating the patient, obtaining records and apply protective garb and assures patients comfort while waiting for the dentist.Compliance with organizations policies and proceduresDemonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and age-related criteria pertinent to the patients served in his/her assigned areaAdditional Position Specific Responsibilities:
New York State RDA (Registered Licensed Dental Assistant) or RDH (Registered Licensed Dental Hygienists) or enrolled in a RDA program.Consideration will be given to candidates interested in enrolling in a program.Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a RDH (Registered Dental Hygienist) OR RDA (Registered Licensed Dental Assistant) OR3 years Dental Assisting enrolled in a RDA program OR 6 months RDH.
Preferred Licenses: Licensed Dental Hygienist
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $33,778.63 - $50,700.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
