The role

The Pricing Manager is responsible for the efficient operation of the Deals Desk Pricing Team in AMER and for ensuring that all pricing maximizes profit while fully adhering to compliance obligations while meeting agreed SLA’s for responsiveness and maximizing win rates. They coordinate the activity of the Pricing Strategists to provide pricing support to field sales teams. Leads and provides guidance to Pricing Strategists for Quote pricing activities and ensures skills are continuously developed. Provides manpower recommendations and schedules resources to ensure optimal support coverage. May assume the role of the Global Deals Desk Pricing Director in specific situations.

 

What you’ll bring

Personnel Management
• Recruit, hire, provide development plans for and regularly review Pricing Strategists.
• Ensure Pricing Strategist team maintains an expert level knowledge of Hitachi Vantara solutions, product components, pricing requirements and compliance regulations. Provide or organize ongoing training as necessary.
• Ensure Pricing Strategist team is capable of achieving responsiveness SLA’s.
• Ensure corporate policy is followed with respect to HR issues
• Act as focal point for Human Resource issues within the Pricing Strategist team; including salary administration, performance monitoring & review and skills development plans.
• Advise Global Deals Desk Pricing Director on specific resource requirements and personnel issues that affect ability to support field sales activity.
• Maintain a close working relationship with the Global Deals Desk Pricing Director and Configuration; Sales Operations; and Commercial teams as well as Field Sales Management and Finance colleagues. Assume role of Global Deals Desk Pricing Director in specific situations.

Financial Competence
• Act as a key advisor to the Hitachi Vantara AMER field, via the team(s) that they manage or directly, when necessary, on appropriate pricing of bids
• Act as a final approver for some Quotes as the delegate of AMER Sales Operations management.
• Actively engage with Commercial Managers & GFS team to ensure that alternative finance methods are being considered.
• Work with the AMER Solutions and Products Group team with the early adoption of new product technologies to maximize profitability.
• Provide recommendations for establishing appropriate pricing gate levels to be positioned competitively in the market.
• Participate in Global Pricing Committee meetings to maintain awareness of Hitachi Vantara pricing strategies and communicate field pricing experiences.
• Manage and report on a regular basis the utilization of Hitachi Vantara funded Programs.

Tools & Processes
• Analyse statistics, trends, effectiveness and utilization of the Pricing Strategist team.
• Proactively communicate to uncover changes in requirements and to distribute information related to job, market or DO customers.
• Manage and analyse the Win/Loss statistics to Sales Operations Management and provide recommendations to increase win rate and field sales productivity.
• Ensure that Quality and knowledge on best practice is maintained across the teams
• Champion sales tools and implement process changes in accordance with global Hitachi Vantara standards and policies
• Ensure that Pricing Strategist team maintains expert level knowledge of Hitachi Vantara pricing tools.

Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field highly desirable.
• Experience directly related to IT systems and data storage pricing issues. Internal Hitachi Vantara experience of 3-5 years preferred.
• Prior experience of, or demonstrable potential for, management of finance or pre-sales support personnel.
• Demonstrable strong background in dealing with customers and managing financial/technical staff.
• Knowledge of AMER storage industry, deal analysis, strategic pricing, US GAAP revenue recognition accounting standards, Hitachi Vantara Sales and Services Standards and customer requirements.
• Must have an excellent understanding of Hitachi Vantara or Competitor products and pricing requirements
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
• Strong organizational and people management skills.
• Self-motivator who demonstrates drive and initiative.
• Language capability in English essential. Capability in at least one other language (French, Spanish, Italian, German) highly desirable.
