The Program Manager, Legal Operations works with the legal department to provide management and support for a full range of projects for the legal team. This role is key in creating processes and practices to improve the day-to-day efficiency and effectiveness of the legal team, facilitating change and helping to control costs. The incumbent will work closely with their leader, members of the legal team, and business stakeholders at all levels of the organization to drive Legal’s strategic projects forward, work to understand pain points, and provide solutions to automate and streamline processes for the Legal team and its internal customers.

SSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Helps create, enhance, and continuously improve legal operations program, including internal training.Develops a deep understanding of the company’s business strategies and services.Drives strategic projects and initiatives for the legal team and collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders including sales, business development, operations, clinical, IT, and finance.Identifies and implements legal department tools to streamline new or existing practices, as well as managing design, rollout, and training for new systems.Prepares, monitors, and tracks legal department objectives on a legal department roadmap to increase productivity and transparency.Designs, tracks, and reports on legal department metrics aligned to the General Counsel’s key objectives and strategic plan, to inform decision making and support senior leadership in developing operational strategies and best practices.Implements technology and process solutions including, but not limited to, legal billing, contract processing, and corporate governance.Develops and monitors metrics to track the success and effectiveness of company’s intellectual property program, compiling and delivering reports on the same.Implements processes for prioritizing responsibilities and improving data-driven decision making.Assesses current systems and develops plans for future system replacement, upgrades, integrations, migrations, etc.Collaborates with product and business owners and other stakeholders to identify, analyze, understand, and prioritize project work by business value and urgency.Collects, updates, and manages department requirements for legal systems and tools.Develops business-facing guides and training materials on templates and negotiation playbooks.Acts as main point of contact for department on all legal managed system issues; troubleshoots and liaisons with IT as needed.Trains Legal team and the broader organization on processes and procedures (e.g., new hire on-boarding training, new software or process rollout), ensuring compliance and adoption through change management protocols.Manages relationships with system vendor(s), including contract management, ServiceNow, Workday, etc.Identifies, scopes, implements, and trains stakeholders on new solutions.Implements processes around development of new company programs that have intellectual property implications.Supports Legal’s IP Program by consistently updating research on best practices for corporate intellectual property programs.Communicates verbally and in written forms (formal and informal), with all audiences within the organization, including senior and executive leaders.Facilitates meetings and other collaborations as appropriate to effectively perform work and to understand, resolve, and/or mitigate risks, obstacles, and conflicts in the delivery of project work.Performs as a change agent, employing inspection and adaptation and continuous improvement processes to consistently provide opportunities for team and project delivery evolutions that will maximize autonomy, self-managed teams, and a thriving project delivery culture in the legal organization.Supervises work of Company paralegals and legal assistants as assigned.Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager’s discretion.
