Principal, Engineer UX/UI - Healthcare

Job Summary:

The Principal Engineer – UX/UI will lead the technical design, development, and optimization of user experiences across all digital platforms. This role focuses on creating intuitive, visually compelling, and accessible user interfaces (UIs) that enhance engagement and usability. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in front-end development with a strong understanding of UX/UI principles, collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver innovative and user-centered solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Collaboration (30%):

Act as a technical leader in UX/UI engineering, guiding teams to deliver exceptional user experiences aligned with business objectives.

Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate wireframes, prototypes, and design systems into interactive and scalable applications.

Partner with product managers and cross-functional teams to understand user needs and translate them into technical solutions.

UX/UI Development (20%):

Develop and optimize responsive, high-performance user interfaces using modern front-end frameworks and libraries such as Angular, Vue, React, or Blazor.

Ensure designs are implemented with pixel-perfect precision while maintaining responsiveness and accessibility standards.

Implement reusable components, design systems, and style guides to promote consistency across platforms.

Mentorship & Team Development (20%):

Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, fostering growth in technical and UX/UI engineering skills.

Lead by example in coding, design reviews, and problem-solving, setting a high standard for technical excellence.

Contribute to building a collaborative and inclusive team environment that values creativity and user-centric design.

Accessibility & Usability (15%):

Advocate for and implement accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) to ensure inclusivity for users with diverse needs.

Conduct usability testing and collaborate with stakeholders to iterate on designs based on user feedback.

Optimize application performance to ensure smooth, intuitive interactions, even under high loads or on resource-constrained devices.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement (15%):

Stay ahead of emerging trends and technologies in UX/UI design and front-end development.

Drive innovation by integrating advanced capabilities such as AI-driven personalization, dynamic animations, and real-time data visualization.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practices in front-end development and user experience engineering.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field.

Experience:

8+ years of experience in front-end or UX/UI engineering, with a focus on delivering complex, user-centered applications.

Proven track record of leading UX/UI development projects, preferably in highly regulated industries such as healthcare.

Technical Skills:

Expertise in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript/TypeScript.

Proficiency in modern front-end frameworks like Angular, Vue, React, or Blazor.

Strong understanding of design systems, component libraries, and UI frameworks (e.g., Material Design, Bootstrap).

Familiarity with tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD for design collaboration.

Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and tools for validation.

Soft Skills:

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a user-centric mindset.

Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and guide teams.

Passion for creating beautiful, functional, and inclusive user experiences.

Preferred Skills:

Experience integrating UX/UI components with back-end systems via APIs.

Familiarity with performance optimization techniques for front-end applications.

Knowledge of user research and usability testing methodologies.

Exposure to healthcare industry standards and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, ADA).
