Principal, Full Stack Engineer

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join Fidelity’s Fixed Income Quant Development Team. As a member of our dynamic and fast-paced team, you play a key role in designing and delivering strategic as well as quick turn-around projects in the Quant space.

You will work closely with portfolio managers, research and quant analysts, traders and investment operations teams in a rapid, highly iterative delivery model. A qualified candidate will be bright, highly motivated and self-starting, able to lead efforts within a small dynamic team, as well as work efficiently on independent assignments; and will be well versed in one or more asset classes – Equity / Fixed Income / High Income, portfolio management concepts, financial statements with a track record of supporting research and delivering software components related to finance. Additionally, this individual is a skilled engineer capable of moving seamlessly between iterative prototyping and enterprise strength application development.

Expertise You Have BS or MS in Computer Science or related degree, or equivalent experience Experience in Fixed Income, Equity or broader asset allocation Experience in working with market data providers, i.e. Morningstar, Factset, is a plus Experience in AWS and related data technologies is a plus. Experience with advanced analytical SQL is a plus Experience in data acquisition/mining, model and application development in a quantitative research environment is a plus. Possess full-stack software development knowledge and critical thinking skills to design optimal solutions Strong Database and software engineering skills including Oracle, Snowflake, Python, SQL and Linux The Skills You Bring Extensive experience with Oracle and PL/SQL Well versed in one or more asset classes – Equity / Fixed Income / High Income, bond and equity markets with a track record of supporting research and delivering software components related to finance. Familiarity with quantitative analytics, including fund and index performance measurement, predictive risk modeling, alpha research, and performance attribution. Extensive experience with advanced analytics and quantitative concepts to support investment needs and develop new solutions Highly analytical with the ability to quickly comprehend large data sets in order to develop new processes, perform calculations, identify anomalies, and/or produce new reporting capabilities Logical data modeling and relational database design experience Data movement and ETL experience using Informatica Experience with database concepts, i.e. RDBMS, OODB, ODS, Warehouse, Cloud AWS Trusted technical partner who collaborates closely with quantitative investment research teams to co-develop, validate, and implement new research ideas and solutions Employing agile methodologies to conceptualize the ideas, and package the concepts into relevant and effective solutions Experience with AWS services. Experience building and deploying applications using continuous integration pipelines and automated deployment tools such as Jenkins. Experience using source control and pull requests for collaborative development in code repository tools such as GitHub.

The base salary range for this position is $85,000-$179,000 per year.  

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
