Job Title:Principal Position Summary: The Principal is responsible for ensuring that all students in the Day School/Treatment and Residential Treatment/Education programs receive high-quality educational services that meet both their academic and therapeutic needs. Key Responsibilities: + Classroom Management & Teacher Support: Provide guidance to teachers in developing effective classroom management strategies that promote positive learning environments. Oversee classroom dynamics to ensure consistent behavior management and a therapeutic approach across all educational settings. + Curriculum & Lesson Planning Oversight: Lead the development and implementation of curricula and lesson plans that align with NYSED standards and best practices. Ensure that the curriculum and lesson plans are tailored to meet the diverse learning needs of students in both Day School/Treatment and Residential Education programs, integrating therapeutic goals and individualized learning plans as needed (IEP's). + Performance Observations & Staff Development: Conduct regular classroom observations to evaluate teacher performance and offer constructive feedback. Provide and schedule professional development opportunities that promote instructional best practices and enhance teachers' ability to address both academic and therapeutic needs of students. Initiate, develop, and implement innovative programming that aligns with progressive educational trends and meets evolving student needs. Regularly evaluate and revise program design, policies, and practices based on outcomes and strategic goals. + Family Inclusion & Collaboration: Foster strong partnerships with families to ensure inclusive educational experiences. Collaborate with Director of Education and school staff to create a comprehensive, holistic approach to treatment and service delivery, integrating family perspectives into treatment and educational plans. + Compliance & Standards Adherence: Ensure adherence to agency, state, and federal regulations and standards. Strive to exceed these standards by fostering a culture of continuous improvement and maintaining robust documentation and reporting practices. + Personnel Management & Development: Manage and develop educational and clinical staff to ensure a high level of competency, motivation, and performance. In collaboration with the Director of Education participate in the recruitment, training, evaluation, and support for all educational personnel, including substitute staff. + Community & School Relations: Maintain productive relationships with public schools and Committees on Special Education (CSEs) to facilitate timely and appropriate educational placements for students, ensuring continuity from pre-admission through post-discharge. + Budgeting & Financial Management: Understand and support the budget. Prepare funding proposals to enhance programming and maintain operations within financial guidelines. + Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership to meet organizational and program goals.
