Summary: Assist in the compilation of data for the monthly financial closing process for Bus revenue sales received through Ticket Vending Machines, Ticket Office Machines, Park and Ride locations as well as from outside Commissioned Ticket Agents (CTA’s). Oversee the daily audit and reconciliation of paperwork from Bus Operations personnel (Bus Garages & Depot Masters). Roles and Responsibilities: + Compile, and prepare monthly journal entries to ensure timely and accurate reporting of Bus Revenue Data. + Prepare General Ledger Account Reconciliations to ensure proper and accurate account activity in addition to, + identifying and resolving reconciling items and accounting issues on a timely basis. + Responsible for payments/reimbursements to/from third parties on a monthly basis for the value of tickets and passes sold by or made on behalf of NJ TRANSIT. + Monitors the accounting, reporting and controls over financial data to ensure the accurate maintenance and reporting of expenditures in accordance with NJ TRANSIT policy and procedures, federal and state regulations and GAAP. + Provide oversight and direction to Bus Revenue union staff in the performance of their daily tasks. + Assists in the preparation of monthly line statistics which consists of accumulating revenue and ridership data for all NJ TRANSIT bus locations. + Assists in planning, testing, and evaluating the integration and conversion of a new bus revenue system utilized in automating data collection and financial reporting processes. + Complete miscellaneous projects requested by Senior Management. Education, Experience, and Qualifications: + Associate Degree in Accounting or related area required. Baccalaureate Degree in Accounting or related area desired. Five (5) years of applied accounting experience, preferably relation to Account Analysis, Reconciliations and familiar with General Ledger postings as well as receivables and payables. Knowledge and Skills: Essential: + Knowledge of GAAP and GAAS required. Preferred: + Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Products with advanced MS Excel experience. + Must have excellent written and verbal skill.
