Job overview and responsibilities

The Principal Cloud Architect is responsible and accountable for providing architectural guidance and oversight for United Applications within the cloud strategy at United Airlines. This role is responsible for understanding application use cases and applicable application reference architectures to make the cloud strategy become a reality.
The Principal Cloud Architect will work across the organization to have various teams provide the proper technology to support the cloud strategy. Partnership with existing senior application personnel is critical. This includes understanding of applications existing architecture and how cloud services can increase value to United Airlines.

Collaborate with domain architects, solutions architects (platform and cloud), engineers, and leaders to develop reference architectures, design patterns, opinion papers, technical standards and architecture decision frameworks that guide the design of technology solutions and applications across the enterpriseDevelop and manage a cloud technical strategy and coordinates adoption. This role will be responsible to architect guidance that conveys best practices and common pitfalls for system design, infrastructure integrations, application development practices and application runtime principles.Develop architecture metrics, plans, and KPIs to track and achieve desired business outcomes.Apply architectural and engineering concepts to design solutions that meet operational requirements, such as scalability, observability, stability, maintainability, security, reliability, extensibility, flexibility, availability, and manageabilityConduct research and develop Proof of Concepts on emerging cloud/hybrid cloud technologies and implementation toolkits in support of anticipated development efforts and recommend technologies that functionally robust and cost effective. Research, enforce, and drive the adoption of automation and evangelizes best practices in areas such SRE as for solution development.Identify new cloud technologies, industry trends, and best practices, which should be incorporated into policies roadmap.
