Principal/Associate Ecologist

We are open to shaping the balance of this role to the right candidate whether that’s a particular technical focus or progressing your project management experience into different sectors and types of projects. At WSP we service a broad suite of clients, projects and sectors which provides a wide range of opportunities for the next step of your career. + Supporting clients (external or internal) with accurate, innovative and proportionate biodiversity technical advice in relation to a range of exciting projects + Contribute to biodiversity inputs across all project lifecycles from bidding/ feasibility/optioneering, field survey programmes, detailed design and assessment + Acting as technical lead for the production of ecological assessments from project inception through to project completion, including authoring/technically reviewing Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, protected species reports, biodiversity management and mitigation plans, scoping reports, biodiversity chapters of Environmental Statements and HRA, with the associated quality, schedule and budget management responsibilities + Mentoring, coaching and supporting junior staff. We are passionate about continual professional development and look to our senior staff to provide on the job coaching, mentoring and support to ensure our team members grow and develop to achieve their aspirations and meet our client needs + Project Management will be a part of the role in which you will have the opportunity to manage projects and overseeing extensive field survey campaigns. Apply, and we can see how your experience aligns to this role and other opportunities within the team.** **What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…** + A willingness, appetite and enthusiasm for new challenges + Experience of operating in consultancy at a senior/principal level leading the biodiversity elements of projects and delivery of high quality deliverables. + Demonstrable experience of managing/supervising ecologists in the field and survey programmes. + Demonstrable experience of leading the production of Biodiversity inputs to EIAs. + Demonstrable experience of managing projects, including commercial, resourcing and scheduling activities + Experience in stakeholder engagement and client/contractor liaison + Experience of Habitat Classification assessments and Biodiversity Net Gain + An ecology specialists and broad spectrum biodiversity generalists are equally welcome. + An undergraduate ecology (or related) degree, with a secondary MSc or PhD in a related discipline being of interest + Full membership of CIEEM **Imagine a better future for you and a better future for us all.** Join our close-knit community of talented individuals who share your passion for making a positive impact.
