Principal Associate Scientist, Translational Medicine, Biomarkers Imaging

About This Role

Biogen’s Translational Medicine Biomarkers Imaging group is actively engaged in an innovative and dynamic molecular imaging research program which includes the discovery and characterization of radiotracers and methodologies for application in drug development.  We are seeking a results-oriented scientist with experise in plate-based and tissue-based pharamacology techniques using radioligands in in-vitro and in-vivo biological systems.  The role will be predominantly laboratory based (80-90%), and will work closely with other Imaging team representatives as well as other program teams. 

What You’ll Do

Evaluate the pharmacology of lead small molecules in-vitro and in-vivo in biological systems using different molecular imaging approachesUse radiolabeled molecules such as [3H] and [18F] to carry out molecular pharmacology assaysIn-vitro and ex-vivo radioligand binding for plate-based and autoradiographic brain imagingHuman and rodent tissue processing such as cryostat brain slicing and homogenate generation for protein target isolationAssay and method development of plate-based and ex-vivo brain imaging studiesAnimal handling including brain dissection and dosing with compounds or radioisotopesTarget identification techniques using IHC and immunofluorescencePresent data at team meetings and internal group forums

Who You Are

A highly motivated, results-oriented scientist with strong communication skills who enjoys working in a collaborative environment.  You’ll support a team of scientists in the preclinical discovery of novel Biomarker PET tracers for human clinical trials of neurological disorders.

 

Qualifications

Required Skills

Bachelors degree with at least 4-6 years industry experience in pharma/biotech or CRO or Masters degree with at least 2-4 years industry experience in pharma/biotech or CRO Plate-based pharmacology techniquesCompound handling and solution preparationsRadioisotope handlingAssay development and optimization experienceRodent animal handling and compound dosing, tissue dissectionFamiliarity with immunohistochemistry (IHC) techniques for target detection in brain slices

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of therapeutic areas in neurology (e.g. neurodegenerative diseases)
