**Role Summary**
The Principal Auditor Audit Programs is the subject matter expert in audit at Alaska Airlines. As an individual contributor, this role defines the long-term audit cycle strategy for the defined Audit Programs to ensure regulatory safety and compliance, considerable latitude and initiative to manage risks.
**Key Duties**
+ As a Lead Subject Matter Expert in Audit, conducts risk-based reviews of business, operational, and safety processes, making recommendations and executing changes.
+ Manages the VDRP program for applicable divisions and participates/presents in divisional meetings (e.g., DAG, SRB, safety meetings, etc.) as appropriate.
+ Exercises Problem Solving and Efficiency, has considerable latitude and initiative to solve technically difficult and complex audit areas, while proactively identifying and implementing process efficiencies.
+ Influences risk management and awareness of operational safety assurance throughout the organization by developing tools and techniques that strengthen and addresses business risks and internal controls and developing/driving actionable plans to resolve audit findings and improve processes within operational divisions upper leadership. Works with Audit Leadership and Stakeholders to ensure management action plans are sufficient, address the root cause of the audit finding, and are completed in a timely manner (escalating when needed).
+ Establishes and maintains project management, develops, implements, and makes decisions on overall project direction and requirements. Ensures audit work is assigned and completed within agreed-upon timeframes, supporting project goals, assisting auditors, overseeing testing, and completing final reports.
+ Performs independent, special reviews in response to business needs, including system implementations, whistle-blower investigations, cost-benefit analyses, and safety/regulatory or corporate compliance investigations.
+ As a subject matter expert, supports Audit Leadership by training less experienced Auditors and supporting the OJT process. Assists with initial reviews of audit reports and contributes feedback for less experienced auditors.
**Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills**
**Required**
+ 7 years of experience in auditing, quality assurance or related operational industry experience.
+ Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
+ Demonstrated ability to effectively manage project timetables, notifications, and other project management responsibilities.
+ Proven ability to quickly understand and diagram risks and controls associated with complex business processes, as evidenced in the delivery of consistent, high-quality audit work.
+ Efficient and effective communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) that deliver a high level of customer service and convey approachability, transparency, and business savvy. Influences at all levels within the organization, including the ability to clear issues up to the Director level.
+ Detail oriented and highly organized, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills that demonstrate a warm, professional approach to auditing.
+ Knowledge and adherence to International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Minimum age of 18.
+ Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
**Preferred**
+ Master’s degree or MBA

**Salary Range**
$117,500 - $176,300 / year
**Salary Details**
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
**Note:** We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
