About the Opportunity
Aligning with our values and commitments, our Nuclear Decommissioning unit is looking for a Principal Carbon Consultant to help us deliver continued growth in our services and support our clients in understanding their responsibilities to meet the challenges of Climate Change. We are a major player in the UK Nuclear Decommissioning market and expanding our international business and work in other sectors (such as Energy Transition). We work with our clients to tackle nationally – and internationally – important nuclear clean-up projects. In the role you will be responsible for the technical delivery of projects and workstream tasks, providing advice, technical expertise and innovative approaches relating to climate change and sustainability. You will have opportunities for business case development, scoping commercial propositions through sales and client relationship management, and developing the capability.
This Principal Carbon Consultant position is a critical role for Jacobs and our clients, to put in place tools, plans and strategies to drive down carbon, whilst also having the opportunity to innovate on digital capabilities to support efficiencies. We require a candidate with proven experience in carbon management, looking to progress their career to expert leadership. The successful candidate will join a diverse team with the exciting opportunity to work with a varied portfolio of high-profile projects throughout the UK and globally.
Main Responsibilities
You will work collaboratively across the business providing technical leadership on carbon management, including around implementation of carbon management (notably PAS 2080), Scope 3 supply chain, net zero strategies, and ESG services.
Given the breadth of opportunities, typical tasks would include\:
Performing life cycle assessments (LCA) and modelling, including use of eTool, OneClick LCA and ability to learn other software. At strategic level, working with clients to develop carbon management frameworks, including alignment with standards, and advising on strategies, plans, and net zero and ESG strategies. Maintaining knowledge of carbon policy developments, carbon accounting, methodology changes, and wider sustainability issues. - Managing the delivery of ESG and compliance reporting. Providing assurance services related to carbon accounting and sustainability targets. Providing leadership on business development activities, bid preparation and winning work in the above areas. Being a technical reviewer to ensure high-quality on project deliverables.
