Ecolab is seeking a highly motivated and creative scientist to join our innovation efforts for the Clean in Place (CIP) application in the Food & Beverage industry. We are seeking a Principal Chemical Engineer to join the Food & Beverage Flow Center of Excellence team in Eagan, MN. In this role you will be responsible for performing and leading research, development and problem-solving projects to enable new product and platform development. You will work in a global, cross functional team to design/execute experiments and communicate results to business leaders and customers. What You Will Do
As part of a diverse, global, multidisciplinary cross-functional team, a researcher in this position will collaborate directly with other scientists, research leaders, marketers, sales teams, and customers to develop, evaluate and deploy technical offerings.
Opportunity identification, ideation, initial feasibility analysis, process and product development (including formulation, prototyping, test method development, field trial design and execution), leading to commercial introduction of new programs and customer solutions.
Support projects and program segments to meet technical and business objectives.
Develop new chemistry programs, asset models, and analytical tools that automation, equipment, and digital components to solve customer problems.
Plan and perform relevant experiments and interpret results to develop solutions to complex research problems.
Appropriately document and communicate all research and support activities using formal/informal reports and presentations.
Provide technical support to assist the sales process. At times, this will require travel at a level up to 15%, and working off hours to collaborate with colleagues and customers around the world.
Ensure that all research activities are performed with safety as the top priority.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree Chemical Engineering, or related discipline with strong chemistry component and 5+ years of experience working in an R&D environment; or PhD in Chemical Engineering, or related discipline with strong chemistry component.
Experience in a combination of several of the following: formulation chemistry; performance and stability testing of product formulations; food & beverage processing of dairy, beverage, or brewery products; industrial cleaning and sanitizing processes, including CIP; statistical design and analysis of experiments.
Strong oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and consistent attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to conduct research independently and as part of a highly collaborative team, balancing the priorities of multiple research projects.
Ability to travel up to 15%; ability work after hours to collaborate with colleagues and customers in other parts of the world.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in sensors and digital solutions for process visualization and optimization.
Experience with enzymes; industrial wastewater plant operation; and/or method development and validation.
Strong leadership presence with ability to represent RD&E to senior management, external organizations, and customers.
Annual or Hourly Compensation Range
The pay range for this position is $98,600.00 - $148,000.00. Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation, such as experience, education, training, geography, etc. We comply with all minimum wage and overtime laws.Benefits
