Principal Cloud Engineer
Job Description:

Position Description:

Develops Web-based applications using programming languages — Python and Java. Innovates and improves enablement platforms and capabilities to accelerate migrating technologies to the Cloud. Designs software architecture with Cloud native stacks and technologies — Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Crafts, builds, and deploys applications in a DevOps environment. Implements Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD) pipelines.

Primary Responsibilities:

Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple Cloud applications and conducting studies of alternatives.

Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Mentors junior team members.

Advises senior management on technical strategy.

Develops fine-grained access control to client-facing services and resources using AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM).

Automates deployment and scaling.

Manages containerized applications through the use of open-source systems — Docker and Kubernetes.

Collaborates with systems analysts and Software Engineers/Developers to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.

Develops and oversees software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Cloud Engineer (or a closely related occupation) designing, deploying, and implementing Cloud platforms using Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support financial institutions.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Cloud Engineer (or a closely related occupation) designing, deploying, and implementing Cloud platforms using Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support financial institutions.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) performing advanced statistical analytics to develop, analyze, and evaluate supervised and unsupervised Machine Learning (ML) algorithms using Python, R, Tensorflow, and Pytorch with specific use cases on recommender systems within a financial investment domain.

DE designing and developing Cloud platforms in AWS and Azure; developing Concourse pipeline automation consisting of Python and CloudFormation templates; and integrating ARM templates, using AWS and Azure services (S3 buckets), Native Databases (RDS and ComosDB), API Gateways, serverless functions (Azure functions/Lambda), and AI based services.

DE analyzing the end-to-end flow of Defined Contribution (DC) client data, using Snowflake, Drools, Kafka, Jenkins, AWS Cloud, and Postman; establishing tracking notebooks and monitors to track application usage and index limits using Cloud based log monitoring tools — Datadog; integrating CI/CD pipeline processes, using Jenkins and uDeploy; and integrating Cloud frameworks — Spring Boot and Spring Cloud config — into design solutions.

DE implementing CI/CD pipelines to optimize deployment cycle times for software artifacts to rapidly build and deploy changes to Azure and AWS Cloud Infrastructure, using AzureDevOps, Jenkins, Docker, and uDeploy tools.
