The **Principal Communications Specialist** will be responsible for researching, writing, designing, and producing multimedia content that advances our reputation as the worldwide leader in spine and cranial surgery. This high-impact, dynamic, and collaborative role will lead content strategy and craft compelling narratives to drive business initiatives, spark brand advocacy, and grow engagement with both internal and external audiences. The ideal candidate for this role must have exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills, be well-versed in content management and editorial calendar planning, and have a deep understanding of how content should be optimized across different internal and external communication channels including traditional and digital media. This role reports directly to the Director of Communications as part of the integrated team leading communications, digital marketing, and customer experience for CST. The hiring manager has a preference for candidates to based in Memphis, Tennessee; Lafayette, Colorado; or Minneapolis, Minnesota. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. + Research, write, design, and produce engaging, multimedia content for a wide range of mediums including print, video, digital, social, marketing, and public relations. + Directly manage communications activities that promote, enhance, and protect the organization's reputation to both internal and external audiences. + Collaborate cross-functionally to develop, manage, and execute an integrated editorial calendar. + Leverage programs like Sharepoint, Eloqua, and graphic design software (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) to craft platform-specific content. + Oversee and execute the writing, editing, and approval of event scripts, speeches, key documents and reports, promotional materials, integrated marketing plans, press releases, interviews, FAQs, and other external and internal communications vehicles as defined. + Evaluate the efficacy of communications in advancing business priorities and engaging stakeholders by analyzing data, summarizing insights, and adjusting approaches in real-time. + Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. **Must Have: Minimum Requirements** + Bachelor's Degree + Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience working in corporate communications, content management, digital marketing, or public relations or an Advanced degree with 5 years of experience in corporate communications, content management, digital marketing, or public relations **Nice to Have** + Excellent writing, editing, and creative skills. + A strong understanding of content differentiation across platforms for optimal engagement of different audiences. + Strong project management skills; ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and content contributors/subject matter experts. + An appetite for learning and experimenting with new platforms and approaches to communication and promotion. + Creative problem-solving skills and solid business acumen to connect communication strategies to business objectives. + Technical design skills including graphic design and video editing. + Experience working directly with senior leaders and collaborating cross-functionally with leaders and peers in other functions across the globe. + Entrepreneurial thinking to recommend new program ideas, operating mechanisms, or other improvements to strengthen communications programming and deliverables. + Experience partnering closely to lead through influence and guide outside vendors and consultants to ensure high-value and timely output. **Physical Job Requirements** The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position.  The physical demands described within the Responsibilities section of this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. PR) locations (USD):$108,000.00 - $162,000.00 This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
