Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Construction Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The position is located in Linthicum, MD.

Must be able to work Monday-Friday or evenings (rarely) if needed. Must be able to be flexible with work schedule. Must have a valid driver’s license with own vehicle for transportation to various meetings and/or project sites within the Baltimore Metro area (mileage reimbursed).

What You’ll get to Do: 

Manages concurrent projects from planning & schematic design to design development and construction

Possesses an in-depth understanding of construction practices & techniques, materials & methods, and construction documentation.

Projects may include new construction, renovations, equipment replacement; large and small scale for a variety of building types and building systems.

Performs on-site assessments to evaluate and identify existing schedule conflicts and budgetary risks.

Manages the development of construction documents, drawing reviews, including client partnership and assist in resolving technical challenges.

Manages RFQ/contractor bidder selection process, conducts pre-bid meetings, performs bid comparison evaluations, and assists procuring the bid.

Oversees contractor onboarding, holds pre-construction and weekly progress meetings.

Manages and maintains project schedules, submittal reviews, RFI’s,  change requests, and contract modifications.

Prepares project estimates, schedules, and requisitions to address program functions, space requirements, fixtures, furnishings, and equipment.

Provides technical direction & supervision to internal and external A/E design teams in the preparation of construction documents and specifications.

Oversees all construction activities, perform site visits, and inspections of work being performed.

Act as the Owner’s Representative and primary point of contact (POC) coordinating with internal & external teams, stakeholders, and vendors.

Processes purchase order requisitions, evaluates & approves change directives and change orders.

Oversees all facets of facilities project management from inception to activation with a focus on providing exemplary customer service.

Basic Qualifications:

BS degree in Architecture, Engineering, or closely related construction discipline with 5 years of experience in architectural design and/or construction OR a Master's degree with 3 years of related experience OR 9 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience and knowledge in facilities design, construction management, and building systems.

Experience and knowledge of principles & practices of project management with the ability to manage multiple design & construction projects.

Experience and knowledge of basic computer skills along with experience and familiarity of CAD and standard office applications.

Salary Range: $95,800.00 - $143,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
