ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant, Environmental Impact Assessor with consulting experience and established client relationships to play a key role in growing our business in the Philadelphia, PA office. The ideal candidate will have established relationships with power and technology sector companies, along with technical expertise leading multi-media environmental permitting, NEPA, and large-scale capital projects in Mid-Atlantic and/or eastern states. This position will primarily focus on providing environmental permitting support for renewable energy, electric transmission and distribution projects, and midstream oil and gas projects but may also involve other sectors. Projects are often fast-paced, multi-faceted, and geographically diverse.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience overseeing environmental survey programs, permitting, and impact assessment for capital development projects, overseeing staff in a project setting, leading interactions with clients and regulators, assessing environmental conditions and impacts, plus very strong technical writing and communication skills. As a senior leader, you will be fully accountable for successfully selling and consulting on a range of environmental, social, and health impact assessment projects to build a sustainable business locally and regionally, while networking with ERM's global technical team to share best practices across the industry. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and implement strategic business/action plan, provide leadership, and deliver performance results to expand our Capital Project Delivery (CPD) service area and client base in the Mid-Atlantic and Eastern states and surrounding area. Serve as a key member of the “core” technical and commercial team to drive growth across the CPD service lines (environmental impact assessment, land planning, and facility siting & permitting).As a “seller/doer,” contribute to commercial growth of ERM’s global CPD service area. Identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective technical and commercial proposals, and take an active leadership role in developing new business with new and existing clients. Develop and expand strong client relationships that generate repeat business.Contribute to leadership and management of project execution activities in support of ERM clients’ projects. Lead consulting engagements in the areas of impact assessment, technical discipline-specific consulting, and/or permitting and compliance.Contribute to preparing impact assessments and E associated management plans in compliance with NEPA and international standards, serving in roles ranging from lead technical expert to QA/QC and oversight. Achieve client’s expectations for scope, budget, schedule, and quality.Provide business value based on a strong understanding of clients’ needs and raising the profile of ERM’s capabilities within key client organizations.Lead, manage performance, hire and retain, inspire and mentor staff for overall success of technical team.Meet business health & safety performance standards, financial targets, project budgets and schedules, client satisfaction/expectations, internal risk management, and contractual requirements.REQUIREMENTS:
BS/MS in environmental studies, planning, geography, civil or environmental engineering, or related technical field; Professional certification desired. Or the equivalency of 8+ years related experience in lieu of education.8+ years (10+ years preferred) of consulting experience with impact assessment and multi-media permitting.Proven track record in developing and implementing successful business growth strategies in permitting renewables and data/electrical transmission.Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients, and book personal sales in new CPD consulting services.Established relationships with clients and potential partners (e.g., EPC companies) with buying centers in the Mid-Atlantic and Eastern states.Well-developed teambuilding and influencing skills; unquestioned integrity; and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address client and business needs and challenges. Positive outlook, collaborative, and driven by the success of ERM as a global company with a sustainability vision.For the Principal Consultant, Environmental Impact Assessment (Principal Level) position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $115,000 – $127,315 (USD). An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above. This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.
