Department Summary:
The Cyber Solutions Innovation Center, L520, creates solutions using threat-informed cybersecurity approaches to enhance the security, safety, and resiliency of critical cyber systems and infrastructure.
The Cyber Assessments department, L521, within the Cyber Solutions Innovation Center is seeking a Principal level Cybersecurity Assessor/Engineer to lead and support L521’s contributions across our sponsor base and portfolios. The Cyber Assessment department supports all of MITRE by providing a variety of cyber assessment products plus overall cyber engineering skills. The Cyber Assessor/Engineer position will be a core member of the L521 and government technical team and serve as the first-line support for various sponsors. The position requires direct contributions to our diverse work programs.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Employs a full range of vulnerability, architectural, and adversary assessment methods, as well as continuous monitoring and penetration testing, to assess diverse environments and technologies across the system lifecycle. Helps organizations identify, prioritize, and mitigate risks by enhancing ability to detect weaknesses and bolster security posture for a range of cyber threats. Tailors and applies tools and interfaces that automate, monitor, assess, and manage an enterprise’s security and privacy posture.Evaluates, tests, recommends, coordinates, monitors and maintains information systems and cyber security policies, procedures and systems, including access management for hardware, firmware and software. Develops techniques and procedures for conducting cybersecurity risk assessments and compliance audits, the evaluation and testing of hardware, firmware and software for possible impact on system security, and the investigation and resolution of security incidents such as intrusion, frauds, attacks or leaks.Works closely with the members of the leadership team to develop and execute the department's mission, vision, strategy, goals, and objectives.Contributes technically to one or more MITRE tasks.Provides expert cyber test expertise to multiple programs.Collaborates effectively with MITRE, government, and contractors; effectively communicate in writing, presentations, and collaborative discussions; and interface with peers, managers, and sponsors.Promotes collaboration and integration with other organizational elements within the department and across the Cyber Solutions Innovation Center.Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and workU.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain US government clearance, suitability, and fitness for various organizations.Demonstrated ability to lead and to work effectively as part of a team, across sponsors, and across MITRE as appropriate and experience leveraging relationships to benefit staff and work programs.Expert level understanding and experience with multiple cybersecurity capabilities.Expert understanding and experience with operational cyber security practices and commonly used technologies.Excellent written and verbal and communication skills.Experience leading teams or projects/tasks.Documented success using collaborative and adaptive leadership competencies.This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.Preferred Qualifications:
