We are seeking a senior Database Administrator to be an integral part of the DBA Operations team. Must have experience with multiple database platforms primarily for Mongodb/MSSQL in cloud and secondary support for NOSQL DBs like Cosmos.The senior DBA position plays a crucial role in the continuous delivery of our database operations. The successful candidate will have a track record of operational excellence managing large scale databases and at least 10+ years of hands-on experience. You will have excellent communication skills, a keen attention to detail and a passion for learning new technology and building high quality, scalable solutions.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design and implement fault-tolerant SQL Server and MongoDB solutions using highly availability patterns for scalability and stability in on-premises and in Cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP)Proven experience with MongoDB scaling across data centers and/or in-depth understanding of MongoDB HA strategies, including replica sets and sharding
Deploying, migrating data, monitoring, analyzing, and tuning MongoDB/MSSQL
Manage and maintain multiple database servers across multiple environments(MongoDB/MSSQL/Cosmos )
Design & implement redundancy and fail-over strategies
Monitor and tune query performance
Design, deploy and manage the Microsoft SQL and MongoDB solutions in Cloud(Azure/GCP/AWS)
Monitor and maintain database health, performance and security
Monitor and maintain SQL server and MongoDB Mirroring, Log shipping, backups, ETL SSIS jobs
Provide SQL Server and Mongodb administration in MS SQL Server 2016 and above, MongoDB 5 and above
Plan and implement database backup strategies and perform recovery in case of disaster
Respond to database and user problems, and provide guidance to junior level DBA
Analyze SQL query plans, suggest and implement solutions to support developers in development and production environments
Install, configure and upgrade database management systems and software including clustering environment
Refine and automate security lockdown processes using T-SQL and PowerShell DSC
Respond to service requests and troubleshoot issues as needed
Assist with customer implementations and upgrades
Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings
Participate in rotating 24x7 “on call” support coverage
Perform maintenance related activities during scheduled weekend maintenance windows
Participate in capacity management, expansion and growth planning
Develop and document best practices for maintenance, monitoring, migration, and fail-over strategies Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree or equivalent related work experience Knowledge of Azure cloud platform is must, AWS and Azure is plusKnowledge of various high availability and disaster recovery solutions (Sharding/AlwaysOn, Clustering, etc.)
Deep knowledge of DB performance/scaling concepts and tuning best practices
Proven excellent critical thinking skills. A big part of this role will be diagnosing issues that may not have happened in the past and they will be expected to investigate, understand, and come up with solutions to resolve them
Proven ability to exercise judgment within defined procedures to determine appropriate action
Proven solid organizational and multi-tasking skills to prioritize workload in a fast paced environment
Proven highly self-motivated with the desire to embrace new database technologies and must be able to work independently or within a team in a high demand and dynamic environment
Proven solid team player with excellent written and verbal skills
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced development environment with a broad scope of responsibilities
Proven solid communication skills. Comfortable with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders
Preferred Qualification:
Cloud certifications or an interest in pursuing certification
