TITLE: Principal Database Engineer

DUTIES: Design infrastructure architecture that provides resilient, scalable and secure business-critical database solutions. Design database security solutions related to data encryption, data access, authentication and authorization, automated database patching and vulnerability management. Design data backup and recovery methodologies that satisfy business objectives of recovery point and recovery time. Design database platforms which support private and public cloud architectures including a database as a service model. Utilize data technology trends and perform proof of concepts and ability to develop business cases for leadership teams. Gather business requirements and design data platform solutions that align with business requirements. Perform research and provide plans to remediate complex business problems. Perform database architecture to provide resilient, scalable, and secure database solutions. Utilize analytical and troubleshooting skills to support public and private cloud architecture. Utilize best practices and security tools to perform database security. Design and architect database monitoring platforms. Perform database support utilizing database operations. Serve on the team responsible for providing database administration for all of Charter Communications’ Oracle databases. Perform installations and configurations of Oracle grid infrastructure, databases, and clients. Design and maintain access and security administration for databases. Design, implement, and maintain backups and recovery strategies on Database Management Systems. Support multiple services and databases of medium complexity with multiple concurrent users to ensure control, integrity and accessibility of data. Design, install, configure, and maintain High Availability (RAC, RAC One Node, and Data Guard) Database solutions. Utilize Oracle Enterprise Manager as a monitoring and diagnostics tool to identify and resolve performance issues. Troubleshoot alerts and performance issues from tools including alert log, Jobs, Disk Group, and Tablespace. Perform capacity planning of the Oracle server environment and provide recommendations to management to sustain business growth.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or a related field. 7 years of experience performing database architecture to provide resilient, scalable, and secure database solutions; utilizing analytical and troubleshooting skills to support public and private cloud architecture; utilizing best practices and security tools to perform database security; designing and architecting database monitoring platforms; and performing database support utilizing database operations.

*A hybrid (in office and remote) work arrangement is available.

SALARY: $123,718 to $178,600 per year

HOURS: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (40+ hours/week)
