Join Collins Aerospace as a **Principal Electrical Design Engineer** and assume a key role within the Communication Products Engineering Department in Mission Systems. In this role you will lead the design and development of digital and analog hardware used in high performance communication products that are critical to the defense of our nation, such as sophisticated software-defined radios and data links designed for use in various ground, airborne, and space applications.
This position will sit at our **Aguadilla, PR** location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.
This role is categorized as **hybrid** , with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.
**What YOU will do:**
+ Collaborate with a multi-discipline team of Engineers to develop proven hardware designs that meet system performance and operational specifications.
+ Lead, perform and present circuit card design lifecycle activities including requirements capture, schematic capture, design documentation, hardware design and verification analysis, creation of board stackup and routing instructions, coordination and review of printed wiring board layout, creation of test plans, root cause analysis, and integration. Designs will include the use of FPGA, processors, and DDR memory components, and industry interfaces, such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART.
+ Generate Printed Wiring Board (PWB) layout constraint guidelines and oversee the routing, layout, fabrication, and assembly of complex designs.
+ Prepare and present project and/or technical information to technical staff, program leadership, management, and customers. This includes producing technical documentation, including specifications, hardware design documents, and test plans.
+ Test and troubleshoot electronic circuitry. Includes support lab of design verification testing for circuit card assemblies.
+ Perform trade studies as needed and select components necessary to implement the requirements. Includes supporting system architecture discussions where needed.
+ Mentor others in personal technical growth and may lead small teams to success with schedule, budget, and technical execution.

**Qualifications YOU must have:**
+ Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 6 years of relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
+ Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
+ U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
+ Must have or be capable of obtaining/maintaining an active U.S. Government security clearance at the Secret level or higher. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.
**Qualifications We Prefer:**
+ 5+ years’ experience developing products and systems.
+ Experience with a schematic capture tool like, Mentor Graphics xDxDesigner and/or Xpedition, Altium, Cadence Allegro, EAGLE, KiCAD, etc.
+ Experience in industry design tools, i.e. Xpedition Enterprise, Cadence Allegro, etc.
+ Experience with mixed signal design. Two or more of the following: SoC/FPGAs, A/D Converters, Digital Down Converters, D/A Converters, Digital Waveform Generators, Mixed Signal CCAs, Mixed Signal Modules and Subsystems
+ Experience with digital hardware design. One or more of the following: Subsystem/Module Digital Circuits, FPGA/ASICs, COTS Interfaces, Subsystem Development, VME/PCI interfaces Digital Systems, System Trades, Architecture, Embedded Processing
+ Project management experience using Earned Value Management System (EVMS). Includes experience performing cost, schedule, and risk management for hardware development projects.
+ Experience with Agile for Hardware Development, including planning, tracking, and managing hardware development projects in JIRA is a plus.
+ Working knowledge of EMI/EMC standards for military applications.
+ Experience designing for Military Aircraft applications.
+ Experience working with industry standard toolsets for requirement capture and task management (e.g. DOORs, Microsoft Project)
