Your Role at Baxter

This is where your work saves lives

Provide technical contribution within an area of expertise to lead requirement, analysis, detailed design and verification activities for an assigned product, project, or solution. Provide guidance to other engineers on their technical issues, engages in design reviews and helps resolve problems of medium complexity.

As the Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will be playing a key role in supporting Device Engineering development and sustenance activities of PSS &GSS portfolio in Bangalore R&D.

What you'll be doing

Guiding a team of Mechanical Engineers that aligns with the organization's vision and strategic planIdentifies technical problems, provides innovative, creative solutions; shares technical knowledge with team.Identifies through value engineering, potential cost savings throughout the PSS product portfolioTakes action using engineering tools and skills on the identified savings to manage the projects from early feasibility through implementation.Responsible for completing the design while meeting customer and design requirements confirmed through validation and verification and working with finance to generate and manage capital budgets for the individual projects.Incorporates business, market, industry, and competitive knowledge into technical solutions that can be readily adapted to changes in technology and/or clinical use.Generates alternatives and takes reasonable risks while solving technical problems.Completes detailed, high quality technical documentation to capture and communicate designs.Seeks knowledge of the business, market, industry, and competitive environment.Uses existing tools and best practices to report and track product, project, and process metrics.Completes assigned tasks on time with minimal supervisionChallenges project teams and established work processes and proactively finds creative methods to reach desired performance levelsCollaborate in establishing processes for effective resource management from planning through execution in close collaboration with program management.Advises others proactively about developments or issues that affect their work, and their ability to meet commitments.Proficient in CAD and the use of FEA toolsOther duties may be assigned.

What you'll bring

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 12+ years of experience or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 9+ years of experienceAbility to generate alternative solutions to problems or processes, with an emphasis on design for technical cost reductions.Ability to generate alternate mechanisms / concepts.Understanding of and alignment to FDA, ISO and IEC design control procedures, regulations and standards.Ability to perform theoretical calculations for the concepts generated.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environmentStrong organizational and communication skillsAbility to adapt to change.Experience in the medical device industry is preferredExperience with project management is preferred
