About the Role
As an Android HAL Engineer you will be responsible for designing & developing s/w for Android Audio products on multi-core platformsYou will be involved in adding new HAL/HIDL/AIDL and middleware components for various Harman Audio products.Software development involves working with complex, multi-threaded, multi-processor or multi-core architectures and audio frameworks to integrate Audio DSP algorithms and control structuresWhat You Will Do
Developing, modifying, and porting of Android Audio HAL components.Understanding ALSA architecture to design/customize interfaces for Android Audio products.Design architecture of Audio HAL and implement it to plugin custom Audio features/solutionsDesign and implement audio routing algorithmsEstimate processing resources including ROM and RAM and total system performanceDevelop component design document based on specifications and given SW architecture.Understand the impact of design change on system functionality and performance.Lead and participate in technical discussions across engineering and product teams.Resolve inconsistencies in case of unclear technical requirements in the specification by direct communication with the responsible internal/external stakeholder.Responsible for dependency identification for assigned features.Assesses feature reusability between existing and new projects during project execution.Develop unit tests for all new code.Ensure pre-integration testing and verification for the functional area and its features.Provide root cause analysis for issues, fix these issues, and verify effectiveness of given fixes for the software components delivered.Assist PL/ Engg. Manger in PI & Sprint planning and back log estimations and deliver on commitments for Sprints.Support in preparing schedule and effort to meet customer milestonesEnsure the process adherence of the work products.Support in ensuring quality through effective design and code review.Manage risk identification and risk mitigation strategies associated with the designed architecture.Mentor team members to build domain knowledge.Support the project and quality team to achieve automotive certifications like ASPICE.Interface with customers to handle customer queries, concerns and change management requestsDevelop and offer visibility on risk assessment for critical fixes.Work with other domains for the resolution of dependencies on features and defectsBe up to date on latest Android features/concepts, automotive industry trendsWork with QA (Test teams) in defining the test-cases & test strategy.Report status, issues, and progress of the SW developmentWhat You Need
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.Minimum 10+ years of software development experienceMust have development experience in Kernel, C/C++ programming with good skills in Data Structure, STL & familiarity with JavaMust have experience in Android HAL AOSP architecture, Android Build System,Should have working knowledge in Android (Drivers, HAL, HIDL, AIDL, IPC, Binders, Libraries, Framework, etc)Good Knowledge on OS Internals (Linux)Aware of the Android Concepts Sepolicy, config and board config filesAware of DSP concepts and audio signal processingKnowledge of audio concepts (PCM data, Bitrate, multi-channel audio, etc.)Experience in Android Audio architecture with the framework, native services, and HW abstraction layers.Familiarity with Android Audio and/or Media System.Experience in JNIMust have hands on experience in Android migrations Experience in usage of Android tools like Systrace, dumpsys etc. for debugging Audio problemsExperience in Android Build Make file ( BP files, Go files )Hands-on knowledge of Android Native layer like AudioFlinger or AudioPolicyManagerGood experience working with tools like Gerrit/GIT, Bamboo, Bitbucket, JIRA, etc.Good understanding of memory management/Interrupt handling/DMA subsystems, concurrency, virtual memory, caching, interrupts, device drivers, real-time considerations in embedded systems.Working knowledge of software development processes and process models such as CMMI or ASPICE.Experience working in agile development environment.Knowledge of UML state diagrams, sequence diagrams drawing ability, analysis.Experience in Kotlin is added advantageWhat is Nice to Have
