Principal Engineer - Backend

What you'll do As a Principal Back-End Engineer on the Sign Platform Services, you will play a crucial role in shaping the architecture and development of our core platform services and components that power Docusign products. You will drive innovation, accelerate product improvements and lead efforts across engineering teams to modernize our tech stack and play a pivotal role in migrating legacy systems to Public Cloud. The individual must have a proven track record in building and delivering high-volume, low-latency platforms that are functional, secure, scalable, and reliable. This role demands a high degree of technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to mentor and inspire others. Strong coding is a must for this role. This position in an individual contributor role reporting to the Sr. Director, Identity. Responsibility Write high-quality code that is easy to maintain and test Build C#/.Net micro-services hosted in Kubernetes on Azure Drive quantification and experimentation as a standard practice Participate in the entire development life cycle, from concept to release Support strategic code sharing and architecture for one or more functional area Ensure design and architecture is extensible across multiple projects, and participate in technical design and code reviews Work with Product Management and other developers to understand design requirements and provide estimates for development Work cooperatively with Product Management and Design to create features that are scalable and secure Identify, propose, and implement process improvements to continuously increase the team's productivity and efficiency Stay current with the latest development best practices and share your findings with the team Work as part of a cross-site development team to drive design, implementation, testing, and release of products Raise issues proactively that might impact delivery commitments Research new features and technologies Fix production issues and maintain the code as needed Job Designation Remote: Employee is not required to be in or near an office frequently and works from a designated remote work location for the majority of the time. What you bring Basic 15+ years software development experience 12 + Experience with .Net/C# for building web services BS or MS in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent industry experience Preferred Knowledge and experience in high scale, highly available (99.99+) systems 12+ years professional experience building complex, scalable applications Excellent problem-solving skills Experience in working in an agile development environment Experience with git, continuous integration and deployment tools Curiosity and ability to learn new technologies and tool sets Experience with Microsoft technology stack (.NET, C#, SQL Server, etc.) SaaS or Cloud experience Prior experience aligning platform architecture with security and data Experience with unit testing frameworks Wage Transparency Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations: California: $195,500.00 - $315,775.00 base salary Illinois and Colorado: $186,200.00 - $263,000.00 base salary Washington and New York (including NYC metro area): $186,200.00 - $276,125.00 base salary Washington DC: $195,500.00 - $276,125.00 base salary This role is also eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.
