Principal Engineer Consumer Technology

About this role:

Wells Fargo Consumer Technology team is looking for a Principal Engineer who is passionate about driving data strategy for Consumer Lending. The Consumer Technology (CT) group plays a major role in influencing and defining the firm wide technology strategy and direction.


In this role, you will:

Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groupsLead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinkingTranslate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutionsProvide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutionsMaintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organizationStrategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership


Required Qualifications:

7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education7+ years of alarm scripting or alerting tool experience3+ years of experience setting up distributed tracing across an internet topology for full health check and with the ability to pinpoint problem source


Desired Qualifications:

Deep understanding of the network stack, operating system stack and middleware to be utilized for troubleshooting production incidentsHands on experience with observability practices for MELT (Metrics, Events, Logs, and Traces. Preferred experience with Cisco suite of observability tools as well as OTELAbility to define and create SLOs (Service Level Objectives) that visualize the customer experience as defined by a products User JourneyExperience with hands on development of spunk dashboardsExperienced troubleshooting Unix, Linux and cloud environmentsExperience with Log analysisStrong communication with the ability to communicate on all levels of the organizationDemonstrate knowledge/understanding of emerging technologies, industry trends, and outside perspectives, and communicate relevance to the organizations strategic and tactical goalsLead proof of concepts and prototypingWrite and present white papers and present in industry conferencesLead execution of critical/complex project deliverablesExperience with mentorship by training, documenting, certifying and building the teams skill setAbility to dynamically engage and attend high impact production incidents and troubleshoot to resolution and provide immediate incident analysis both written and spoken
