What you will be doing 

The Principal AI Engineer will be a key technical leader responsible for designing and implementing the platform & architecture that underpins our AI and ML modeling capabilities and integration with applications and data pipelines. This person will build & scale multiple models to retail platforms. This role demands a visionary thinker with deep technical expertise and a strategic mindset, who can drive the evolution of our data science infrastructure and methodologies.

The position will be based in Pleasanton, CA 

 

Main responsibilities

Define and implement the technical roadmap for AI, including the selection and implementation of appropriate tools and frameworks. Define and implement AI experimentation and observation platform for continuously improvement of AI models and experiences Build and maintain a high-performing AI team, providing mentorship and guidance to junior engineers. Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and software engineers to build and maintain robust data pipelines Lead the design for robust AI infrastructure / AIOps, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. Lead the design, development, and deployment of innovative AI solutions across various business domains. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize AI opportunities. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI research and translate them into practical applications for the company. Advocate for the ethical and responsible use of AI throughout the organization. Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, both technical and non-technical. Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, business analyst to understand various LOBs data and reporting needs to create architecture & design for data & reporting platform on Azure Public Cloud Architect & design end to end platform components including data ingestion, ETL, data Lakehouse / warehouse (star, snowflake, delta lake), data export framework, data marts on Azure SQL Server or Databricks or Azure Synapse Create quality diagrams (architecture, component, flow, contextual etc.) and detail design documents & groom user stories for engineers to work Design various components of data & reporting platform including data ingestion pipeline, validation & cleansing framework, data warehouse, data marts/sets, data export to generate files & populate data marts utilizing MS  Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes Data Warehouse solution. Drive proof of concepts and prototypes to accelerate the onboarding of new technologies and solutions to solve business problems Develop and optimize data models for efficient storage and retrieval. Demonstrate leadership in mentoring others, establishing standards in documentation and clean code, and setting a professional example to the team ETL pipeline orchestration and build using Airflow, Jenkins, Github actions etc.. Lead performance improvement efforts utilizing caching techniques, API integrations & SQL queries to load large amount of data Design security aspects at various technical components integrating with Azure AD for end-to-end platform including row level security in PowerBI reporting Perform code reviews and performance aspects of all technical components Research new patterns, frameworks, tools to make data platform capabilities configurable, dynamic, reliance and performant, adhere to SLAs & quick time to market

What we are searching for 

Minimum 15 years of relevant industry experience in data & reporting field, retail experience is big plus Experience in building large scale AI models and systems Experience in large language models and deep neural network solutions Minimum of 5+ years of experience working in AZ and GCP public clouds.  Demonstrated ability to work with peers in engineering acro Hands-on SQL, data modeling, data mapping, transformation rules 5+ years of experience in design and architecture of data warehouse, ETL, data exports, analytics & reporting 5+ years of experience in AI/Data Science and Machine Learning 2+ years of experience in Databricks pipeline, lakehouse, Unity Catalog, DLTs etc ss teams to set technical directions Excellent communication and presentation skills Expert troubleshooter – unwilling to let a problem defeat you; unrelenting, persistent, confident A penchant for thinking outside the box to solve complex and interesting problems Extensive knowledge of existing industry standards, technologies, and infrastructure operations
