JOB SCOPE

** This position is eligible to work in a hybrid work model (combination of in-office and remote days). **

The Principal Engineer II is responsible for network engineering activities that maintain and enhance the company's telecommunications and signal processing hardware, software and electrical systems. Works closely with technical operations staff on Network design and configuration of Charter’s IP network using advanced technical and design skills. Collaborates across numerous verticals as well as other design teams to establish unity and advises team leaders.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Forecasting, Planning and Identification of resources requirements for complex network systemsMonitor, analyze, and report capacity of Network solution system utilization and perform growth analysis/capacity planningProduce designs, BOM’s & A-Z’s, monitors, enhances and troubleshoots Network systems in regional areas - but not limited toAssigned complex and critical projects that involve several technical systems and constituentsAnalyzes and revises existing logical service flows and documentation as necessaryProvides engineering technical support and guidance to regional personnel and ensure all technical integration, changes, standards and documentation requirements are metMentors and guides the work of junior and senior technical staffReviews work plans and designs and advises on improvementsProduce and maintain documentation on current systems to a level sufficient to ensure knowledge transfer and continuity of supportIdentifies, assesses, and develops detailed requirements for upgrading networks, re-architecting network segments in order to facilitate new requirements, technologies and growth

BASIC / MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering or related field or related work experienceMinimum of seven (7) years of Network Engineering work experience

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Proficient knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6 Networking, Routing (OSPF/BGP/ISIS/PIM) and Switching (STP/SVI/VLAN, IRB/BVI)Proficient knowledge of multiple vendor OS (iOS, iOS-XR, JUNOS, SR OS)Established knowledge in ticketing and Network applications such as: Jira, Redmine, Aletheia, WAE, CA Performance Center, Netbrain, SharePointKnowledge of Optical platforms and ROADM technologies and topologies a plus.Knowledge of industry specifications and standards such as DOCSIS and PON/RFOGWorking knowledge of Microsoft software Suite with emphasis on Excel and VisioAbility to multi-task and prioritize multiple objectives and initiativesMust have good interpersonal skills, and the ability to relate well with both technical and non-technical professionals across a diverse work force

PREFERRED EDUCATION

Cisco Certified (CCNP, CCIE) - Industry and vendor specific certifications and training preferred (Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, etc.)

The base pay for this position generally is between $124,000.00 and $220,000.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
