Principal Engineer - Malware Threat Detection and Analysis

Meet the Team You will be part of Cisco's Security Business Group (SBG), with a focus on improving the threat detection and analysis capabilities of Cisco’s comprehensive security portfolio. The focus will be on network and endpoint security as well as malware detection. You will drive innovative approaches -- using the latest AI/ML techniques and a data-driven development approach -- to build best-in-class security solutions. Reporting to the Chief Scientist, Security, you will work together with world-class engineering, threat research, and product partners. Your Impact * Lead by example as a hands-on architect and technical expert who designs and builds cutting-edge systems that detect and analyze security threats * Use deep understanding of the threat landscape to propose innovative solutions to counter threats targeting Cisco’s customers * Leverage modern AI/ML techniques to improve the accuracy of threat detection solutions and automate/accelerate manual analysis processes * Use data driven techniques to understand the limitations of current security techniques and gather insights that drive the development of novel techniques * Design and contribute to the implementation of critical threat detection and analysis code * Work closely with a globally distributed team of versatile peers Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field * 12+ years of related security experience, specifically in the areas of network security and malware analysis * Experience developing robust and scalable code for dynamic and static malware analysis * Experience with state-of-the art machine learning techniques and libraries * Experience with writing high-quality code and modern application development frameworks Preferred Qualifications * A strategic problem solver in the areas of threat detection and analysis * Published at relevant academic conferences and/or spoken at selective security industry events * Ability to get consensus and set technical direction within a large engineering organization Why Cisco Secure We're global, we're adaptable, we're diverse, and our security portfolio is as extensive as it is groundbreaking.
