Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is currently seeking a Principal Engineer Embedded Software This position will be located on site in San Diego, CA.

Join our team to work in an embedded technology environment to develop software working with real time operating systems for use in flight and mission critical systems. We build complex aircraft systems using the latest technologies including simulation, embedded and real time systems, DevSecOps, and cyber that can rapidly evolve to deliver enhanced capabilities for fielded systems, modernizing in partnership with our customers to meet their most complex missions. Accomplish

In this role you will design, develop, integrate and test software, in an Agile software development environment.  Specifically, you will be responsible for the development, and administration of embedded and real time systems.  You will work with multi-disciplinary teams, such as with Systems Engineering, Cloud & Application, Test Automation, DevSecOps and Systems Test, in an Agile software development environment.  You will analyze system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls. 

Essential Functions:

Work in a high energy environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative team settings across all levels.Participate in the full software development life cycle including design, implementation, and delivery of software products to our customers.Operate in an embedded technology development environment working with real time operating systems for use in flight and mission critical systemsWork in Agile Scrum teams to develop software products for multiple software baselines.Collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers and integration/test engineers to develop and maintain complex software systems.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering5 Years with BS; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Years with PhDDemonstrated Professional Experience with Agile Framework within the last 3 years.Demonstrated Professional Experience developing software and scripts in C, Object Oriented C++ AND/OR Python for Safety-Critical applications/Systems within the last 3 years.Demonstrated Professional Experience with Software Change Control, Change Management, and CI/CD tools such as: Atlassian tool suite, GitHub, GitLab, AND/OR Jenkins within the last 3 years.Demonstrated Professional Experience architecting, Designing, Modeling (Rhapsody or Cameo), Implementing, Maintaining, Integrating, Debugging, Verifying and Qualifying Safety-Critical Embedded Real Time Software written in OO C++ running on Real-Time Operating Systems such as:  VxWorks, Integrity, AND/OR Real Time Embedded Linux within the last 3 years.Demonstrated Professional Experience with Static & Dynamic Code Analysis Tools and Fuzzing Tools such as: Coverity, SonarQube, AND/OR Fortify within the last 3 years.Active DoD Secret level clearance OR Top Secret (in-scope), with the ability to obtain (and maintain) special program access (PAR) prior to commencement of employment.

Differentiating characteristics include demonstrated leadership, teamwork capabilities, strong time management, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers and integration/test engineers to develop and maintain complex software systemsRecent Demonstrated Professional Experience with DOORs AND/OR Software Requirement Specification Testing using Simulators, automated scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, JavaScript, AND/OR Bash.Recent Demonstrated Experience with software network interfaces and troubleshooting networks (TCP/IP, UDP, LAN, VLAN, SNMP or others).

Salary Range: $107,300.00 - $160,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
